What I mean when I say platonic Bingqiu would have Binghe as Shen Yuan’s pet:

Binghe requires a lot of affection to reassure him that he is loved, and he really doesn’t care to have an equal relationship with Shen Qingqiu. As Shizun’s pet, he would keep living in the side room, cooking/cleaning for Shizun, and being pet/hugged/kissed on his little head. Occasionally he gets to curl up with Shizun when he’s feeling sad. Shen Yuan will need to have taken the time to communicate with him that his love is not a limited resource that requires guarding, and when Shen Yuan has relationships with other people, it doesn’t mean he likes Binghe less. Binghe has to really understand that, and actively work on his jealousy/self loathing on his own time. A platonic relationship between them does require intensive character arcs for both of them, but I think it has great potential.

this is a man who, on unexpectedly reuniting with an alive version of the evil music teacher who ruined his life, not only allowed him to pet him (while sqq's limbs were in ripping range, c'mon) while going ?? but pivoted so fast to seduction literally the second it occurred to him. bing-ge hated the guy! that's kind of key to his origin story! shizun no good very bad and gets murdered about it! but shizun is nice for 0.2 seconds and suddenly sex is very much on the table

bing-ge is also the man who, after his seduction attempt failed and he got beaten up by bing-mei, turned for a dramatic come with me moment with, again, the suddenly nicer version of his evil teacher. who i cannot stress enough has been nice to him for like one tuesday afternoon, after a lifetime of Not Nice. and bing-ge is ready to run away into the sunset together already. admittedly he's run away into a lot of sunsets with many many women, but rarely has he looked so upset about it. he is shooting his shot with no reflection or apparent hesitation, it is literally his first opportunity to Bond with shen qingqiu for real and he is grabbing it with both hands, like go huge king but also say what now

bing-ge is also the World's Straightest Man with more wives than he's had hot meals, yet he reads like One smutty rpf about him and his old teacher and is like wait, you can DO that? and all of a sudden he is totally on-board with getting hot and heavy. not just with a dude, but with, again, the evil arts teacher who super ruined his life and their grudge has spanned forever but bing-ge is happy to just Forget all of that in exchange for some kissy time??

give him like a month in the newer, sexier shen qingqiu's company and that man is even more sopping wet and clingy than bing-mei. he is the most extreme Luo Binghe of all Luo Binghes and i put it to you that this tendency goes in both directions. his Extreme Danger Do Not Approach meter is filling up at the exact same time as his Desperate Simp bar and yes, he is going to be so weird about it

It then shows SY noticing SJ!Shen Qingqiu's presence behind him and turning his head to face towards him, saying "Oh hello, A-die. This one thought you'd still be at the peak lord meeting." Chibi!SQQ, holding his hand to the door frame and looking off to the side replies "It ended early. This master along with Mu-shidi and Liu-shidi will be heading to Jinlan City to render aid."

Panel two shows Chibi!SY closing off his expression and turning away from SQQ as he says "Ah. This Yuan wishes A-die luck on this mission. Should I warn Ming Fan not to go on any night hunts while you're gone?" SQQ closes his eyes in slight embarrassment/awkwardness as he replies "Ah- Well-" then mumbles "This father wishes..." as he whips out a fan. Chibi!SQQ uses the fan to cover his mouth and he turns away slightly, dropping his hand from the door frame. He states that "Mu-Shidi recommended A-Yuan joins us. This master is inclined to agree."

Panel three shows SY turning more fully towards SQQ with a surprised expression, his eyes widening and bringing one hand up to his chestas he says "Really? A-die's never let me on a mission like this before-" SQQ closes his fan and holds it in both hands as he replies "A-Yuan is older now. And he will be with this master. Unless, Yuan wishes to stay?" Chibi!SY panics slightly raising both hands up in front of him as he startles causing the butterfly to fly off his head as he frantically says "No-! This disciple would love to help!"

Panel four has SQQ giving SY a slight happy expression as he says "Then A-Yuan should go collect his things. We leave first thing tomorrow." Chibi!SY replies "Right!" as he stands up and brushes himself off. Chibi!SY runs past Chibi!SQQ, who is looking at him with a warm smile, as he excitedly whispers to the butterfly flying slightly in front of him "Did you hear that? An actual night hunt!"

Panel five shows a front shot of LBH's memorial with the red butterfly now resting on top of it. SQQ about to head out the door, holds onto the frame with one hand as he glares over his shoulder and grits out "See? He's just fine without you." It then cuts to a darker green background as a speech bubble of SQQ's says "He has to be." End ID]
