My copy of Higurashi looks a little different...

#poorly drawn mdzs #mdzs #digital art #higurashi #Back to my roots with making hyper specific crossover art for myself and 3 other people.#So...I've starting reading Higurashi. On the recommendation of a friend and I have not heard of it before now.#I am only at the start! I do not know where this is going but I am deeply intrigued.#It seems to be a pretty popular series given the amount of remakes?#But I am so charmed by the early 2000's style of the original sprites.#They have paws!!! Big meaty paws!#I can respect an artist who does everything in his power to avoid drawing hands.#Doing a style study of this art style was not on my forecast but it was surprisingly fun.#I could not get the hair shading right and it was taking way too much time so I gave up.#Perhaps I will draw the Higurashi cast in my style and make the crossover complete. They are all so silly.#Plus both series are murder mysteries! I'll have to keep reading to know more about how to make a good crossover but I'm hopeful!#Please let this be a normal VN. PLEASE. If it turns into a horror game I am going to cry (hou).

If you mean to ask about my own personal project that adapts themes and elements from the Odyssey, then I would love to share more! But that is a whole other tangent.

#ask #the odyssey #fourfold soul #nobody #I just watched the new Odyssey (Nolan 2026) and I am exploding with thoughts.#My expectations were blow out of the water! I thought the script and presentation were very well done.#It truly felt like an artist's interpretation of what the story of the Odyssey most resonated within him and I love it for that.#An adaptation must take away and add something to the story.#A good one will uphold a central theme found in the original and give it polish. A bad one misses the point or presents a counter theme.#I think Nolan's version wove in a lot of key elements to the themes of the character Odysseus as well as the setting of the Odyessy.#Yes - some iconic moments are missing. But I think what he added in their place did provide the same threads to the tapestry of tragedy.#To me - Odysseus is a character who struggles to reflect on his actions and take accountability for his role in the tragedies.#It's not that he doesn't care for those around him. He cares a lot.#He also feels the end justifies the means and other people aren't as smart as him so of *course* he takes charge and keeps secrets.#Ogygia is his lowest point. It is where he has nothing but time. He has all comforts available to him but is deep in despair.#This is where he is finally able to reflect. Years pass as he is stripped of all his pride and forced to face himself.#He has to spend time on Calypso's island. It is his asphodel as he waits for his own judgement to come.#Which is probably why - for my own adaptation - I'm focusing on those themes of reflection and redemption.#The western-esque setting works so well to create an isolated town for an outlaw to be trapped in.#'Nobody' is strongly defined by a lack of reflection into themselves. They simply have always done what they feel they must.#Everything they do is justified by their law. They will lie. They will cheat. They will do anything in their power to get their way.#They ost everyone they cared about through actions they struggle to take accountability for.#Above all...they are adrift in the world. There is a home somewhere out there that they can never seem to reach.#They long for a place they do not know and cannot seem to find...#I could keep going but let's stop it there!

Boutta make a modified version of your WWX's breakfast as my lunch. I don't have quick oats, so I'll be making it in a pan on the stove. I used to have a high spice tolerance, but it's been a little while since I've made anything spicy, so idk how this'll go

Sometimes you make something and it comes out completely different.#Quick oats are strongly recommended. Using other oats will make it like soup unless you go with the stovetop method.#I loved the idea of every 'cat' in your url being a stacked cat in a trenchcoat so that's what going on here.#Thank you 6 cats in a trench coat. I tried your wwx oatmeal recipe after the reviews came in to see what the fuss was about (lol).

I gotta say, it’s pretty good? Genuinely just tastes like spicy congee! Nice balance of spice and umami. I added a fried egg for protein and scallions for garnish, and it’s just right.

P.s. Letting it sit on the countertop was indeed the correct and safe way to eat this breakfast. I now trust your recipes with my life.

And next year's 'needs work'.#Some days I have time and brainpower to make something with a lot more effort and planning! And it comes out 'better' than usual.#Some days I am just challenging myself to draw something and let it be messy - but finished.#No matter what I am always doing my best. #ask #Abacus Anon #recipes #digital art #Delighted to know people are still out here taking the gamble on My WWX's Breakfast Recipe.#I agree it could use a bit of tweaking - I admit to eyeballing the spices 90% of the time.#Confession - I like my oats and porragies soupier/thinner.#If you want a better texture and flavour I recommend doing this on the stove top.#However the recipe is specifically designed to be a 'I have ADHD and want to make something fast and low maintenance.#Microwaves can e quite different in their power levels...You may need to add more time.#Or! Pause and give it a lot more stirring. The agitation helps congeal it.#I also got to say - I love it dearly when Anons leave a little signature to be known by. Hello Abacus Anon!

But I also have to recalibrate my brain to not give LBH horns and a tail.#This being him pre-big-shove-binghe.#I can't show off art for the zine until I have the go-ahead (which will be a long while) but I can tease this:#I'm featuring my Matcha Macaron Recipe! And theming it around SQQ's harsh training style.#Luckily LHB is a good cook and can keep up! The strongest disciple will make it through all the challenges this master poses!#I have also been thinking a lot about how wonderful it is to make and share food with others.#To give a treat and see them light up is the best treat of all!#I think that is also partly why I love sharing recipes with people. #better drawn mdzs #svsss #zhuzhi lang #snake #The prompt was to draw ZZL in his monstrous form and I had a lot of fun thinking of what kind of composition to do.#I know my art leans more 'cute' than spooky - but I want to work towards being able to make creepier art.#Admittedly this still came out cute. Such is the way of the snake.#I wanted to invoke the feeling of being cramped (like a snake about to molt) as well as the trauma of being 'hidden away'.#He may have been a monster but he was also just a kid...#Born unwanted and abhorred by those around him...his home was where ever he could be kept out of sight.#It was an arrangement that was never going to last. One day someone would find him and slay him.#A terrible monster would be eliminated. A child who never had any opportunity to be anything but a creature in the woods.#But when someone did find him - it was to offer companionship. To reshape him as the child he was.#To be held so tightly in an enclosure thinking you deserve it - never realizing how much space exists in the world...#It's scary at first. The world is so very big so very suddenly.#Hideous things have beautiful parts to them too. I am so glad he was able to take up more space in the world.#Even though it wasn't for a long time...Damn I love this guy so much and I've barely gotten to know him.

And now TOBY FOX has written a crossover fanfiction. I have been sent the link so many times, and I think this is a sign that this world is a simulation.

Thank you!!! I always enjoy making art that has purposeful, as well as openly interpretable elements! Some people noticed it looked like a road/path, the headband, the whip, a colourless ribbon, or smoke - and those are all valid takes!

I think there is interesting AU potential given some fun similarities, but even I, a lunatic who can find crossover crumbs in nearly everything, must put down my foot and say 'these two stories are incredibly different'.

That said...An AU where WWX hides out as a monk under a pseudonyme and takes on the role of instructor, not realizing that it puts him back in contact with the Lan Clan would be quite brilliant. There are some good meals to be had in this kitchen.

I will always be honoured to have been known to impact households with nouveau evil penis music (wangxian but evil). PD-MDZS is in your walls and living rent free!!!

You have given me to motivation to figure out my scanner and boy did it make a difference!! It wasn't nearly as intimidating as it was the first time I tried, and it was way easier than how much I had to edit photos before. Thanks for sharing your way! (the tip to apply the scanned art to itself as a multiply layer blew my mind, too. it worked like magic!)

Really happy to have passed on a good tip! The multiply layer trick is one I want more people to know about, as it really does fix so many issues, with such ease!

#ask #If your art program can also handle contrast and a few other settings:#Play around with overlay and saturation too! Sometimes scanners lose or gain saturation.#And another secret tip if you are also a laptop user:#Use your phone to check out the colours before posting!#My laptop is infamously awful at picking up purple and yellow.#The screen also desaturates my colours..so I often don't realize what colours I am actually using.#This is also why I make and use colour palettes for my art. It makes for good 'pre-approved' colours.#I now know to pre-desaturate before posting...but still...I am often shocked at the discrepency...

Silly question, but do you listen to the audio drama in chinese, or is there an english version that I have never heard about?

The audio drama I have is technically a video with English subtitles! So, it is the original audio version, I just don't know enough Mandarin to listen to it without said subtitles.

However, it would be cool to one day have dubs in other languages!

Jin Guangyao who tries to mask it #but can never fully get rid of how it comes out in the edges of his voice when he gets more emotional.#I love accents and language and all the ways it interacts with who we are and how we want to be perceived in this world.#I have loved learning about titles in mandarin for this exact reason. You can't translate that without losing so much story and character.#Some stuff you have to learn! Study up as a side quest to the story!#Every language has it's own version of what accent assignements would do for the characters...#English speakers are more chatty about the accents they think about -#- but please oh PLEASE tell me about your accent assignments for languages you speak and would want in a MDZS/MXTX dub.#(My love for language in stories is also why PHM is one of my top stories ever.#Give me a story about two people learning the intimate nuances of their languages and I am going to be running for my meal.)

Apologies for the quiet front on the blog these last few weeks...and apologies that I am about to announce that: I will be taking a 2 week semi-hiatus (I may pop in sporadically with a doodle, but no guarantees!)

It has been a challenging month for me, and I have fallen behind on my zine check-ins and commissions... I will be drawing in the shadows, and I look forward to showing off the fruits of my (dark and mysterious) work

In the meantime, I see there have been many lovely asks and comments sent my way these last few days! I will be still checking in and replying while going through my zine grind, and I appreciate all the love and patience B'*)

But I do love all three very dearly and think this whole this is hilarious.#I also want to add that I am okay! I am lucky to be surrounded by a lot of supportive people!#But it has been...bad. I am going to be very honest about that fact.#My nervous system is so fraught and overspent that my hands shake when I try to draw or write.#My focus? Shot. My motivation? Exploded. My tasks? Piling up.#I am loathe to take a break again but Its that OR I drop the zine and I don't want to do that!#I'll ask if I can post little previews though!
