Are you ever gonna post goodly drawn mdzs?

My two modes are Poorly Drawn and Better Drawn.

There is no good - I am doing my best with drawing, day by day!

#ask #I do think I have improved! I think that I can accept.#But 'good'? That's an impossible benchmark.#Today's good is last years amazing. And next year's 'needs work'.#Some days I have time and brainpower to make something with a lot more effort and planning! And it comes out 'better' than usual.#Some days I am just challenging myself to draw something and let it be messy - but finished.#No matter what I am always doing my best. As we all are!#I do understand the core of the question here. I think it is my philosophy that disagrees in chasing 'good'.#The goal is 'good enough!'#And most days my art does feel like that. It's taken a long time to get there though B'*)

#ask #Abacus Anon #recipes #digital art #Delighted to know people are still out here taking the gamble on My WWX's Breakfast Recipe.#I agree it could use a bit of tweaking - I admit to eyeballing the spices 90% of the time.#Confession - I like my oats and porragies soupier/thinner.#If you want a better texture and flavour I recommend doing this on the stove top.#However the recipe is specifically designed to be a 'I have ADHD and want to make something fast and low maintenance.#Microwaves can e quite different in their power levels...You may need to add more time.#Or! Pause and give it a lot more stirring. The agitation helps congeal it.#I also got to say - I love it dearly when Anons leave a little signature to be known by. Hello Abacus Anon!

But I also have to recalibrate my brain to not give LBH horns and a tail.#This being him pre-big-shove-binghe.#I can't show off art for the zine until I have the go-ahead (which will be a long while) but I can tease this:#I'm featuring my Matcha Macaron Recipe! And theming it around SQQ's harsh training style.#Luckily LHB is a good cook and can keep up! The strongest disciple will make it through all the challenges this master poses!#I have also been thinking a lot about how wonderful it is to make and share food with others.#To give a treat and see them light up is the best treat of all!#I think that is also partly why I love sharing recipes with people. I can't bake or cook for you - but I can pass on the next best thing.#And Yes. The Senshi Tulpa has been moving into my head quite comfortably now.

#better drawn mdzs #svsss #zhuzhi lang #snake #The prompt was to draw ZZL in his monstrous form and I had a lot of fun thinking of what kind of composition to do.#I know my art leans more 'cute' than spooky - but I want to work towards being able to make creepier art.#Admittedly this still came out cute. Such is the way of the snake.#I wanted to invoke the feeling of being cramped (like a snake about to molt) as well as the trauma of being 'hidden away'.#He may have been a monster but he was also just a kid...#Born unwanted and abhorred by those around him...his home was where ever he could be kept out of sight.#It was an arrangement that was never going to last. One day someone would find him and slay him.#A terrible monster would be eliminated. A child who never had any opportunity to be anything but a creature in the woods.#But when someone did find him - it was to offer companionship. To reshape him as the child he was.#To be held so tightly in an enclosure thinking you deserve it - never realizing how much space exists in the world...#It's scary at first. The world is so very big so very suddenly.#Hideous things have beautiful parts to them too. I am so glad he was able to take up more space in the world.#Even though it wasn't for a long time...Damn I love this guy so much and I've barely gotten to know him.

Toby remembered he had a tumblr blog long enough to post a propaganda oneshot that was, ironically, for senshi. (his blog is fwugradiation)

I need to make it even more clear how insane this triple crossover is to me, specifically:

I was a backer of Undertale during it's 2013 kickstarter.

I have been reading Dungeon meshi since 2015.

PHM is one of my favourite books. Maybe ever.

And now TOBY FOX has written a crossover fanfiction. I have been sent the link so many times, and I think this is a sign that this world is a simulation.

Thank you!!! I always enjoy making art that has purposeful, as well as openly interpretable elements! Some people noticed it looked like a road/path, the headband, the whip, a colourless ribbon, or smoke - and those are all valid takes!

I think there is interesting AU potential given some fun similarities, but even I, a lunatic who can find crossover crumbs in nearly everything, must put down my foot and say 'these two stories are incredibly different'.

That said...An AU where WWX hides out as a monk under a pseudonyme and takes on the role of instructor, not realizing that it puts him back in contact with the Lan Clan would be quite brilliant. There are some good meals to be had in this kitchen.

I will always be honoured to have been known to impact households with nouveau evil penis music (wangxian but evil). PD-MDZS is in your walls and living rent free!!!

I lured you all in with the promise of junk food, with the conviction of an anime protagonist who wanted to keep fighting to improve. Since day one, I have been working hard!

That picture is one of the few things I knew about TJL before reading the extras, and it was always one of the funniest things out of context. It's still really funny in context too. He's a freak. I love him.

You have given me to motivation to figure out my scanner and boy did it make a difference!! It wasn't nearly as intimidating as it was the first time I tried, and it was way easier than how much I had to edit photos before. Thanks for sharing your way! (the tip to apply the scanned art to itself as a multiply layer blew my mind, too. it worked like magic!)

Really happy to have passed on a good tip! The multiply layer trick is one I want more people to know about, as it really does fix so many issues, with such ease!

#ask #If your art program can also handle contrast and a few other settings:#Play around with overlay and saturation too! Sometimes scanners lose or gain saturation.#And another secret tip if you are also a laptop user:#Use your phone to check out the colours before posting!#My laptop is infamously awful at picking up purple and yellow.#The screen also desaturates my colours..so I often don't realize what colours I am actually using.#This is also why I make and use colour palettes for my art. It makes for good 'pre-approved' colours.#I now know to pre-desaturate before posting...but still...I am often shocked at the discrepency...

Silly question, but do you listen to the audio drama in chinese, or is there an english version that I have never heard about?

The audio drama I have is technically a video with English subtitles! So, it is the original audio version, I just don't know enough Mandarin to listen to it without said subtitles.

However, it would be cool to one day have dubs in other languages!

Jin Guangyao who tries to mask it #but can never fully get rid of how it comes out in the edges of his voice when he gets more emotional.#I love accents and language and all the ways it interacts with who we are and how we want to be perceived in this world.#I have loved learning about titles in mandarin for this exact reason. You can't translate that without losing so much story and character.#Some stuff you have to learn! Study up as a side quest to the story!#Every language has it's own version of what accent assignements would do for the characters...#English speakers are more chatty about the accents they think about -#- but please oh PLEASE tell me about your accent assignments for languages you speak and would want in a MDZS/MXTX dub.#(My love for language in stories is also why PHM is one of my top stories ever.#Give me a story about two people learning the intimate nuances of their languages and I am going to be running for my meal.)

Apologies for the quiet front on the blog these last few weeks...and apologies that I am about to announce that: I will be taking a 2 week semi-hiatus (I may pop in sporadically with a doodle, but no guarantees!)

Woe! Flower Man Upon Ye!

Be it into my own brain or my friends.#It was extremely hard to pick just 7 lines for this animated comic.#I went with the top lines as suggested by said 'cursed by the flower man' friends but some honerable mentions:#'They're eating my flesh!' 'Hey guys!' 'I'm sorry once again I kept a lady in waiting' 'Ja-Kidding!' 'That's my dreams'.#Toby Fox knows how to make a silly little guy who follows you around and drills holes into your brain.#He can't keep getting away with this.#I also have been chewing on the Ralsei and Flowery interactions and implications for the last week and a half.#They're tied to the same undertale character parallel.#They're foils of each other in terms of both being aware and trying to follow a 'hero's prophecy'#One deems himself the supportive role. A game master who has set the scene for the players but is unable to truly partake in the story.#The other sets up his world and casts himself as the hero - alongside his friends and loved ones.#Ralsei hating the guy is both a hilarious callback to undertale lore and...Flowery is once again the twisted power fantasy.#The person he *could* be if he didn't force himself to play by the rules. The happiness and freedom he isn't able to have.#Chapter 5 was really good. I will be back to draw the other flowers.

June Ko-fi doodles (part 1): Let them cook!

#MDZS #Wen Ning #ATLA #Appa #Limbus Company #Ryoshu #Once again; thank you all so much for the support on ko-fi! I love making silly doodles like this.#Especially when some of them end up having a common theme.#This month we are thinking about cooking!#No dungeon meshi doodle requests (YET. Still waiting on a few people to send a prompt!) but in spirit...we are cooking.#Appa feels like he should be easy to draw but I couldn't quite get him right! Argh! Another time...#I don't think he's going to be in the new ATLA show/movie though...I hope I am wrong.#Wen Ning's apron is a reference to a fic (per request!) and says 'mandatory head kisses for the chef'#I think he would love the grill. It would give him purpose and fulfillment.#Also - since in PD-MDZS canon LWJ doesn't (YET) know how to grill - It would round out the party skillset.#Ryoshu...Well. She will cook a plate of F.U.L.G. (Fucked up little guys). It's art first and food second.

Do you have any tips for scanning traditional art to digital and making sure the quality is alright/looks good?

I have talked about some tips in the past, and I am planning on making a video to go over my process, but as general advice:

Use a flatbed scanner; Some phones can have good image quality but the angle and shadow distortions are inevitable!

Know thy Scanner! All scanners have quirks and benefit from setting adjustments to compensate for low contrast, artifacts, over saturation, or faded colours.

My greatest 'traditional to digital art' hack: Adjusting values post scan. Duplicating and multiplying the scan as a 'layer' in an art program (fading opacity based on need) helps fix 90% of issues with the ink looking ‘washed out’.

Paper/media quality matters: Some paper and pencils/inks just scan better than others...

Colour: There will be transformations in colour upon scanning. There is no tip for this other than to experiment and prepare in advance!

#art faqs #ask #I have memorized/written down my settings and values for different scanners that I have used over the years!#Sometimes I will experiment with different approches to see if I like the outcome.#I have one scanner that washes out the darks - so extra contrast and multiply layers are essential.#Another scanner of mine makes the colours very saturated and Leaves a ton of artifacts! So: Higher Brightness - Lower Contrast.#I only know this through playing around with the settings! It took a long time - and I'm still learning.#It does suck to have to spend so much time drawing and realize you still have more work to do - but it is worth it.#Colour transformation is especially wild. Fun fact; about 50+ comics of PD-MDZS has them with purple hair -#-Because it scanned as grey digitally! And I preferred the colour over my actual grey at the time.#Dead serious about making this into a video. I have a script written and examples ready to go.#I love traditional art too much to stand for the ways in which people do NOT let their work shine as brightly as it could...#Most important thing to mention at the end of this: This is merely *my* method.#Everyone will have their preferences and strategies! If taking a picture of your art and uploading it raw is what you have to do...#I can...appreciate...the value in your approach...I can hold the blood back in my mouth...Your art is still beautiful...
