I’m still not over the “Angel” wsqk sync
not sus at all, Shawn
mark my words: antis will bitch about us connecting this movie with cg, while Shawn basically IS the one who’s just started it
(Shawn produced Arrival)
Btw, I also didn't believe the Duffers when they said that they aren't very well-versed in music and Joe Keery had to recommend the Bowie version of Heroes for the end credits.
Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit
The thing is, we now know that the Duffers are staunchly anti-AI.
What dat mean?
We have two options:
A) they were lying about their use of ChatGPT in the documentary, and people were in on the gag ...or
B) the documentary maker, the cast, everyone involved were completely unaware, and were, in fact, befuddled and confused by the Duffers' weird behaviour.
Point B doesn't really hold for me, if you consider how positively the cast members have been describing the Duffers over the years. Point B also implies that the documentary maker didn't do her job properly - if, in fact, I caught the showrunners I was making a whole ass documentary about 'accidentally' letting it slip that they're using AI, and then providing NO commentary on that in the documentary itself, that would be either incompetence, bias or silencing from Netflix. In other words, documentary = bad.
All that to say - Option A seems more plausible to me than Option B, because we would be implying that almost everyone, collectively lost their integrity and their brain.
I think before we had a strong feeling/suspicion that it was a mockumentary and satirical, but now that they just won't shut up about how much they hate AI, it means that something in that documentary was DEFINITELY a lie!

another anti-AI duffer interview just landed
and somehow flew under the radar? link here
But we're also encouraged by what audiences are responding to right now across TV and film he can't mean conformitygate...can he? probably the biggest audience whiplash since...ever...
as you can tell, i am back in my investigative journalist™️ era (or i might be a bit bored)
What I love most about conformitygate is the realization that S1-S4 has been setting it up this whole time without us realizing. S1-S4 is the manual for spotting the rouse. It’s not that S5 doesn’t make sense- it’s that it systematically deconstructs everything the show has taught us. You can’t break every rule unless you know the rules. S5 is coherent in how incoherent it is. It’s crazy!!
People always say Will is weak or people should take care of him differently. When you’re different, people often treat you with extra care, but sometimes that care can feel suffocating. Joyce always did that with Will, trying to protect him from everything after what happened. But Mike was the only one who didn’t treat him like he was fragile. That was a big part of Will’s storyline in S2. But in the show itself, Will is actually one of the strongest characters.
He questions things. He’s sassy. In S2, after everything he went through, he still always put others first, even while carrying so much pain. In S3, after all that trauma, when they found out about the Meat Flayer, he was completely confident. He even told Lucas that he didn’t care about the campaign anymore because they had much more important things to do.
Will was always ready to do whatever was needed. That sacrificing, sensitive mentality is part of his character, but that doesn’t make him weak. It makes him a good human being. When a real problem comes, he’s brave. That little 12-year-old kid pointed a gun at the Demogorgon before any of this happened. He never backs away from anything. His experiences made him stronger and braver.
HE WAS STRONG BEFORE THE POWERS, AND HE IS STRONG AFTER GETTING THE POWERS.
A person can be sensitive and still be brave, strong, and courageous. That’s who Will Byers is.
I love you a lot, Will Byers. And thank you, Noah 🩵💛

In theory, maybe I get the “we’re all just playing with barbies, they’re fictional characters, no interpretation is incorrect because it’s an interpretation” argument. But actually no, not all takes are equally valid. Framing something as an interpretation doesn’t mean it inherently has merit. Some takes are completely incorrect and betray a fundamental misunderstanding of the source material. They just aren’t a reason to harass people or send death threats
