Another public service announcement. This time it’s air quality. Some of you are probably in it already if you’re in eastern Canada, New England or New York, but it’s sliding south, a huge mass of wildfire smoke. Please be careful. When it starts getting bad, especially, like when the sky gets orange or brownish, it’s best to run air purifiers in the house and wear N95 or KN95 masks when you have to go outside.
It harms your lungs and it’s especially bad for children (and pets!) or anyone with health problems. There are all kinds of chemicals in that smoke. It’s not only trees that are burning. The heat already makes it harder to breath. This makes it worse.
If any of you are experiencing it, feel free to tell about it in the comments. 💚
Also, throw out the mask every day and shower before you get in bed if you’ve been out or you’ll be breathing the particles all night. Stuff like that. It gets all over you, your skin, your hair, your clothes.
It's a large (and shifting) smoke plume, so stay safe, folks. Look up how to make a "Corsi-Rosenthal Box" if you need an air purifier inside.

This is the IDEAL use case for Men’s 3 in 1 bodywash/shampoo/conditioner. Take a big blob of it in your hands, start at your head and work down your Pits, Tits, and Bits™️ (gender neutral), and if you’re able, scrub your legs and feet. Rinse off and be done with it.
Bonus: you now smell like a mountain that fights Nazis.

I'm not sure if this is an okay thing to do, but I'd like to share something I recently realized for other people who avoid showering because it makes you feel bad.
I started getting really scared to shower because out of nowhere I'd be hit with really bad dizziness, nausea, and feeling like I was about to pass out. I couldn't figure out what was causing it. The temperature of the water didn't matter, and it didn't seem to happen after any specific amount of time.
I wear glasses and can barely see without them. I'm pretty sure what was happening is eye strain! I've started closing my eyes as much as I can when I shower, and I haven't had that problem anymore. Granted, I have other neurological problems too so that can be kind of disorienting. But!! It's not scary to shower anymore. I'm just working on building the habit back up now
Oh, this is great! I have to admit, I do get a little disoriented, but this would explain some things.

If you're someone who struggles with interoception (knowing/understanding what your body is feeling):
if there's a task, especially a recurring one, that you find difficult to do and that you keep avoiding, check whether you're in pain or physical discomfort.
For a long time I would avoid doing tasks like showering because they nebulously made me feel 'bad' or i just instinctively felt like avoiding them. It wasn't until I got a shower chair that I realised standing to shower was causing me pain. My bodymind knew that on some level but didn't tell the conscious me.
Similarly with sensory aversions (things you don't like). Before I got kitchen gloves, I did the dishes but it took me a long time and I never wanted to. Afterward, it got a lot easier to motivate myself.
"But how can you not know you're in pain/uncomfortabke?" Extremely easily if your brain is wired a specific way or if you were taught, intentionally or not, to downplay your own experiences or distance yourself from your body.
There's no shame in struggling with these things. hope y'all are having nice days and you're able to do something today that makes it a little easier.

This goes for everything too, not just tasks. I really struggle with my anger, and it took me a long time to learn how to stop mid-angry-thing and ask myself why i was actually angry. 9 times outta 10 I was overwhelmed, and it was usually because of physical sensory overload because I was in pain. I never even realized. I had to start paying close attention, and forcing myself to evaluate my body to see how much pain i was in (and where) so I could properly deal with it.
