Off to the Tweed Ride today! Have some general Tweed Ride stylishness. I hope to see people as dandy and dapper as these.
Watch the new Steven Universe episodes tonight with Estelle!
Link to her Instagram: https://t.co/X5MrbKiqWn
I’ve been holding off on reblogging promos since I don’t want to give away too much about tonight’s episodes (even this image is a bit much). But this is worth letting you know about!
Watch the episodes WITH ESTELLE on Instagram Live. Tonight! I won’t be online, but if you will, you should do this. And then record it, for me.
I am soooo far behind on steven universe you guys. ...
this is such a weird way of phrasing “Millenials go hungry because of financial crisis we caused”
“Why then do they not eat cake?”
You know what?
I’m no longer holding Star Trek or Star Wars “accountable” for their clunky-looking sixties-and-seventies future technology.
Why?
Because the Enterprise is off on a years-long voyage through space. There’s no Verizon store, no Radio Shack, no Geek Squad out there. If the Klingons fire photon torpedoes and the bridge shakes and Spock’s head bangs against the fancy iPad72 touchscreen and cracks the glass, the ship’s toast. If Han Solo’s fingerprints get all over the starchart and the touch-calibration is off by half a centimeter, the Falcon is going right into a star. But if Mister Worf accidentally twists the command knob too hard and pops it off, he can just screw that thing right back on and it will keep working. Dust gets in there? Take it apart and clean it out. All the plugs are big and universal, all the power cells are functional and have a decent battery life, and nothing is built to expire in the next six months so you have to buy a new one.
That tech isn’t anachronistic or suffering a bad case of Zeerust–it’s practical, effective, and it works. Apple tried launching its own space exploration craft, it had to come back for full repairs within three months, and then it had to be upgraded over the next two.
But this? This is just good, long-lasting, fully-functional, and reliable craftsmanship.

Inexplicably annoyed by men writing about knitting!
The tags on this are extraordinary:
girlfriend: *does a completely harmless craft that she enjoys, creating something while she watches tv*
boyfriend: “what is this anti-feminist spinster shit, i’m so alienated”
this is literally why I feel like I have to apologize for sewing
“sweetly oblivious old ladies” Hon I 100% guarantee to you that those old ladies are aware of you, your bloodline, your daily habits and your breakfast order and gossip about how rude you are as soon as you leave.
“If you want to eavesdrop on someone, knit or sew or some sort of womanly craft. Men will act as though you are deaf and blind even when shown evidence otherwise.” - Tricksters’ Choice.
I sourced this one a while back and I was really glad I did. It’s from the book Knitting Yarns: Writers on Knitting, an anthology in which “twenty-seven writers tell stories about how knitting healed, challenged, or helped them to grow.” The passage in question, from a story by Andre Dubus III, describes the writer’s state of mind after going through some problems with his family and having a fight with his girlfriend. Part of his difficulty is that their class disparity has recently come to the fore (his family is working-class, she was born into wealth; the “busywork” line seems a little more pointed), but mostly it’s that he feels disconnected from his roots and craves the easy connection to the past that his girlfriend’s art represents. Look at the way that even this out-of-context passage is written: his apparent contempt barely disguises his envy of her ease and skill, “her fingers working the needles and yarn without having to peek.” The entire arc is about how, finding himself compelled by her craft despite himself, he asks her to teach him to knit so that he can make a Christmas present for his aunt, and, in the process, comes to realize that there is more to knitting than the shallow ideas he read into it before he really understood it.
It’s sad that a man who wrote honestly about the impact that a “womanly art” had on his life got skewered (no pun intended) on the Internet because of this contextually necessary lead-up passage in which he outlines the negative stereotypes that stood in his way and pokes fun at his own immaturity.
Ok I will admit this context does help. Possibly I need to chill. I still find the tone surpisingly vicious (especially for an anthology about knitting?!) but it sounds like it makes more sense in the context of a story about personal growth.

I swear. To god.
I mean, I crochet and bake and even sometimes sew as a hobby because I enjoy it, k? And fine, maybe that’s a bit cliche or whatever. I go through phases, I don’t finish stuff, I’m not very neat (sorry Gran).
But my mother and grandmother knitted me and my brother’s school jumpers to save money. And that was in the 90s, not the frickin’ 30s or something. So don’t you fucking ‘sweetly oblivious’ at me when women around the world are providing for their families, dipshit.
Ok, I read through my whole feed and came back cos I'm still mad about this. THE BUSYWORK OF PEOPLE WHO WERE HAPPY TO WATCH LIFE. You have got to be kidding me.

Before you do something stupid, just think “Would Uncle Iroh be disappointed in me?” If so, don’t do it.
Uncle Iroh was a loving and understanding person. He would never be disappointed at your actions. Only sad you felt the need to do them and his teachings couldn’t prevent it while always faithful in your ability to do whats right.
stop calling teenagers millenials
like the youngest millenials are 23 years old
