If you want my opinion as someone with a degree in economics, if you want to give your fantasy world a fully functioning economy, it has to be a fully functioning fantasy economic. If you're going to give it a fully functioning 14th century Western European economy, it won't work because it's a matter of pieces fitting wrong. If the economy is the focus of your story, a fully functiong 14th century Western European economy fits a 14th century Western European story. If you want a fantasy story, you'll have to make a fantasy economy, if that's your focus, no matter how much inspiration you draw from real life.

One of the best things about being a writer is thinking of something small you can add to your work that’s just. Devastating. Like you’re sitting there going. Oh. That would be diabolical. People would get really riled up about that. Exquisite. Let’s do it.

I think part of getting better is complete ego death. Like you’re not above setting a timer for 5 minutes and focusing on a task. You’re not above doing a very simple 3 minute workout to start. You’re not above reading for 10 minutes a day when you first get out of your reading slump, even if you used to read for hours. You’re not above starting slow and then building up to where you want to be/where you once were. What you are above is total inertia. Doing something really is better than doing nothing. Radically accept where you are, radically accept your limits, and go from there. Don’t let your ego get in the way.
