i donāt understand how neil gaiman intellectual properties still trend on here so regularly he literally trafficked women. like itās not even a discourse thing or a āheās problematicā thing he was ācancelledā for human trafficking. he repeatedly isolated women, usually his or his ex-wifeās fans, with no support system for the purpose of raping them while they were dependent on him for income and housing. thatās human trafficking
patriarchy is the longest enduring form of subjugation that exists. we need to start saying capitalism exists because of male supremacy. we need to start saying white supremacy exists because of male supremacy. #They like to lie about the order of events to downplay the ideology that unites them all.
one thing the sea of machine-translated international feminist tweets has taught me is that none of our insights are limited to just one nation. i was actually shocked to see how similar so many of us are. men and their sympathizers have spent years lying, saying āfeminism is for white women,ā āfeminism is western,ā āfeminism is only for the truly oppressed third world masses,ā etc. men need us to believe the lie that we live in totally separate worlds so they can enforce their brotherhood of nations through our subjugation. men and their sympathizers have to dissuade us from seeing and speaking to each other because womenās solidarity has the potential to cause an extreme disruption to the property claims they enforce on us. the desire for womenās subjugation exists across all spheres of society, and no one race, nor one class, nor one nation is exempt.
while a number of femicide cases against black women are in the news cycleā¦iāve seen rhetoric ramp up about how uncontrollable and misbehaved we are, because we emasculate black men by resisting the property claims theyāre entitled to as men. a tweet comes to mind where women all over the world report the same thing: when a man canāt control women in his āownā ethnic group, he calls another ethnic group of women more desirable based on their perceived submissive behavior. we are all living under the same male supremacist structures, and we are all subject to the same bag of trickery. we must match the ferocity of our insights with tangible political organization, mobilization and solidarity.

one thing i'll say about Project Hail Mary is that nobody had warned me about the Gracias a la Vida needledrop in the middle of the movie and it felt like getting punched straight in the chest. immediate tears. i'm really happy it'll make more people maybe look into it and find out about Violeta Parra, and her deeply beautiful, deeply bittersweet work, and the way her life's story colors it. She's one of the most important figures of Chilean folklore, and one of the artists most dear to my heart. I remember learning about her in school as a child, and the profound impact it had on me.
This song in specific is a lovely choice for the film's themes and the moment it was placed in was really beautiful and moving. I wanted to share why, but I think anyone who's seen the movie and reads the lyrics/listens to the song will understand.
She was also a painter and a textile artist.
Here's some of her work and the full english lyrics translated by yours truly, because I'm unsatisfied with the translations I found online:

this is the core of why some women defend beauty standards - if theyāre deconstructed even a little they have to face how much money/time theyāve sunk into them. it also exposes how untrue āi did it for myselfā really is - if that was true, you wouldnāt be upset that other bodies are being uplifted

"There is no such thing as a partial liberation. No one can be 'economically free' while sexually repressed and bifurcated; no one can be 'sexually liberated' while an economic slave... Freedom is all or nothing. And there is no freedom for males, of any class or color or ethnic group, while the female remains unfree."
- Monica Sjƶƶ, Barbara Mor: "The Great Cosmic Mother: Rediscovering the Religion of the Earth"

Submit short stories, informative or argumentative articles, poetry, book reviews, interviews, art, and more at totalwomanvictory.com/submit. Be sure to check out our section on contributor/visual arts expectations for more information on contributing! āOur Earth, Ourselvesā unearths the inextricability of the oppression of women and the destruction of the earth. Oceans, nations, and even Earth itself are commonly referred to with female termsāfrom āMother Natureā to āMother Indiaāāwhile extractivism, resource depletion, biospheric pollution, and the conquest of land mirror the male conquest of female bodies.Ā Ā Consumerismāincluding booming industries such as meat, makeup, fashion, and technologyāis connected to the subjugation of women. Imperialism exacerbates both female oppression and Earthās destruction, deeply tying Third World women to their environment. Over time, scientific data has vindicated ecofeminists who drew these connections decades prior. This issue further concerns female food insecurity, consequences of AI, denial of land and territorial displacement, exploitation of land laborers, the slave trade, and more. How does the destruction of our Earth affect our very bodies?
