grace is like rocky be honest am i too clingy? and rocky is like grace i would mind meld with you if i could.
i find it so exciting that in english you can read numbers >thousand as "x hundred". like 1100 is "one thousand one hundred" yes But it's also "eleven hundred". that's so beautiful and true
two of the most brutally impactful animation shorts I've ever seen are trailers for a leftist history podcast. a medium that famously does not require visuals. but they went ahead and paid for two crazy animated trailers with crazy sound design anyway. a friend showed them to me two months ago. it's genuinely fucked up how much I think about them. is it strange to be in a fandom for 2 two minute long podcast trailers? I am very seriously contemplating making gifsets right now
I cannot convey to you how crazy this sequence about the nixon administration & extension of the vietnam war to cambodia are. you have to watch it for yourself and your sound has to be ON

i know the way people talk about their pets now is probably how we’ve been doing it for all of history. a cat owner in ancient rome saw their cat lounging on the dining pillows and commented “he thinks himself to be the senator claudius 🤣”

Perhaps my genuine biggest piece of socializing advice as someone who spent years of my life feeling wholly incapable of positively interacting with other people is to just ask the other person questions about themselves. Like that’s it. People love answering questions. They really love thoughtful follow-up questions. They love feeling like someone else is interested in them, their interests, their lives, their opinions. At some point in your questioning they will say something that reminds you of a funny / interesting story. Tell it. You will be remembered as the person who asks a lot of questions, makes people feel like they matter, and tells good stories. boom. done.

how this week has felt
I think the battle is long since lost on what the “-coded” suffix means, but I (old movie guy specifically invested in queer coding) seem to be unable to let go of how annoying I find the fuzzy popular use of the term. This is probably a flaw in my character.
Coding is intentional, it’s a way of communicating indirectly with the audience through a shared language of signs. That’s why it’s called coding, because it’s communicating in code. It isn’t when a thing reminds you of another thing.
