"Does she have nostrils? No she doesn't. She's above her peers."
Sailor J's Contouring 101 Sentence Meme Status: Accepting! @freezegirl
Hli tries- and fails- to cover her laughter. It turns into an awful strangled snorting sound. Thankfully, Hli's already known for being a little odd, so people don't stare at her too long.
"And that's why," Hli whispers, leaning towards Kie, "you go to a reputable surgeon, kids. But it's okay, men don't like nostrils anyway."
She'd feel worse about their tittering if Jan wasn't the snootiest, most awful person that Hli has ever had the displeasure of meeting.
Just finished my Autumn Leaves pattern in time for November! by Complete-Ambition385
This is why “credit the artist” is so critical.
I showed this to my mom. She flipped her shit. Wants the pattern. I clicked the link. Got to the original, which had a link to the pattern. Mom is buying the pattern, artist makes money.
While I’m there, I notice it’s had dozens of hits in the last 24 hours. Why? Because its making rounds on tumblr and somebody credited the artist.
Great job, OP.

Choices were made in this bathroom. Lots of choices.
These are also in the house.
Also worthwhile to note that this house is in the general area of the new Colorado wolf pack so you can live in this weird little abode and know their are a pack of all solid black wolves creeping about outside!
Katy why are you taunting me with my dream house at 10PM on a sunday because I want this place so bad already.

Happy pride everybody!
A lil pride gif for all my lil aces out there <3
btw I’ve found these stretches from the WAK blog very helpful when knitting a lot:
Plus make sure to take breaks regularly - and stop if anything starts to hurt!
especially with gift knitting I know it can be tempting to push through it for a deadline, but it’s really not worth causing long term injury. (And anyone knit-worthy should be understanding of that, imho.) Stay well :)
Also good for artists drawing with pencils/on a tablet/with a pen!
Also good for writers
funniest response you can give to someone telling you they love you: "skill issue"
context for this post before the self loathing comments start btw

I keep forgetting when these days are, but if you're ace, you're cool
Officially ace day again!
Just to clarify, it's the 6th of April! I posted this at 1am GMT, so sorry for any confusion!

The funniest shit is when aro and/or ace people realize "wait... y'all are serious about this? This isn't hyperbole??"
Hey, it's Asexual Week. Please consider giving your local Asexuals 50$ and a bowl of soup. Thanks.

“We chose the term “asexual” to describe ourselves because both “celibate” and “anti-sexual” have connotations we wished to avoid: the first implies that one has sacrificed sexuality for some higher good, the second that sexuality is degrading or somehow inherently bad. “Asexual”, as we use it, does not mean “without sex” but “relating sexually to no one”. This does not, of course, exclude masturbation but implies that if one has sexual feelings they do not require another person for their expression. Asexuality is, simply, self-contained sexuality.”
— The Asexual Manifesto, Lisa Orlando and Barbara Getz, 1972
Note the date, people:
That’s 1972
29 years before AVEN was started online,
and 47 years before the present.
And that’s only the date that Manifesto was written, so asexuals as members of a community must have existed at least some time before that.
So, no: we are not just Tumblr trenders. Get out of here with that.
supporting my asexual friends and foes by rebbloging this
It’s 50 years this month since the first version of the Asexual Manifesto was written. Aces have been writing about our experiences under this name for at least half a century. We are not an internet fad.
evcluticnary:
@seamstrxssed (because we discussed this a couple times and i finally can put words together for Shiloh)
“On one hand, this whole collab thing is exciting. An opportunity I wanted and wished for, not quite thinking it was prayer worthy, but still really wanted.”
“But on the other this isn’t what I wanted when I started out. I wanted to share how I modified my own things to accommodate and a single mom reached out saying she didn’t know how to sew but her little boy needed shirts. I couldn’t just abandon a child. So I told her to send the shirts to me she needed fixed, and pictures of how to measure and she was so precise I didn’t have a problem at all. Then she sent me photos saying he loved them, that he’d never had a shirt that fit him and good Lord did I know how that felt to finally have something fit your body the way you really needed it to.”
Shiloh was pacing as she talked, a careful path around her mannequin that she’d drawn on the back of to replicate the placement and measure of her own wings. There was some fabric pinned to it, but nothing really note-worthy about the material.
“So I agreed to take a couple commissions, and there’s just so many.” There were definitely a lot, though most of them were almost done just in need of finishing touches or last checks on stitchwork before being packed up and sent off. “It feels like it’d be wrong to close the commissions for a while, but I’m starting to feel like I’m drowning in work. The videos, the sewing, and I haven’t even gotten the time to do my own shirts lately but that’s fine. I’d rather focus on my commissions cause some of them are time-sensitive and I am just so tired.”
Did Hli ask for this venting? No, was Shiloh doing it anyway? Yeah. She wasn’t expecting anything but an open ear, and she knew Hli knew Shiloh wasn’t looking for a solution at the moment. “I should close commissions a while, catch up on my own stuff, but where else are they going to go? Why is it so hard to prioritize myself when I know there’s people that need this?” That was the real question.
Hli let Shiloh vent for as long as she needed to- clearly the poor thing needed it. As soon as Shiloh slowed down, Hli replied,
“From what I can see, you have a big heart. And people with big hearts sometimes feel guilty about taking care of themselves because they feel guilty for not taking care of other people.”
She smiled gently at her young mentee.
“I’m not going to tell you what to do or how to do things, but I’m here for you in whatever you need- more people, supplies, meal prep/delivery- I mean it. Whatever you need to help you get the care you deserve so you can have the reserves to help others.”
