1. turn on computer’s pairing mode, but make sure the controller’s pairing mode is off otherwise it’ll never show up

2. turn on controller’s pairing mode

3. wait for controller to show up in pairing menu. if it doesn’t, disable pairing on both devices, restart the xbox controller, and go back to step 1

4. attempt to pair. if the pairing wizard fails, disable pairing on both devices, restart the xbox controller, and go back to step 1

5. if the controller successfully pairs, test input. if input does not register, unpair and forget the controller, restart the controller, and go back to step 1

6. if controller registers input, congrats! it’ll work for anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours, at which point it will stop registering input and you’ll need to, guess what! unpair and forget the controller, restart the controller, and trudge your sorry ass back to step 1

7. once you are done gaming and turn the controller off, you will need to forget the controller (cause you know that fucker won’t pair when you turn it back on) and repeat the entire process from step 1 the next time you want to use it
