I’ve actually asked Republicans why they’re against feeding children.  They believe the kids are hungry because their parents aren’t working hard enough.  Republicans think people will work harder if their children are hungry.  In other words, they believe it’s okay to TORTURE CHILDREN to get their parents to do what they want.

I have to remind myself of this all the time and sometimes it’s hard but honestly it has made me so much happier

I went to a lecture last night about charity and the panelists were all middle-aged or older. They talked about how there’s a decline in giving amongst young people and offered up a few reasons they think that might be: selfishness, decline of religion, less confidence in charities. Not one of those panelists mentioned, ya know, NO ONE HAS MONEY. When they took comments from the audience, a guy in his 20s stood up and said, “Don’t you think young people are giving less because they have less? I can’t afford to pay my rent, how can I afford to donate money?” And they all sputtered. “But—but—” Most of us in the audience were students and we all just stared back like wtf how do you get SO out of touch?

Not to mention there’s a whole web of people online giving their last dollars to gofundmes so that each other can afford food and hospital bills, like just because our charitable giving doesn’t manifest in the same way doesn’t mean it’s not there

Sometimes I think that to the left of liberal social justice types dislike antifa because the principles of complete anonymity/secrecy in organizing means you can’t use antifa affiliation to boost your social capital or build a career, so they don’t consider it useful because they use social justice mostly for that…

THIS. Performative activism // performative allyship is sooo important to these types and they can’t wrap their mind around why someone would go do all this stuff and not tell anyone for brownie points and it draws attention to the fact that they’re so clearly in this for social capital

it kills me when ppl write articles about “straight” women wanting to hook up w women and they cite all of this scientific research about sexuality being “flexible” and talk about how “labels aren’t necessary” and the kinsey fucking scale without even once mentioning that maybe, just maybe, women want to date and marry men exclusively – despite being attracted to other women – because society has demonized, punished, and persecuted lesbian and bisexual women for centuries
