Okay, so no, he doesn't realize taking and trampling back would mean taking and trampling the Empire, extending the war for nobody's benefit save to satisfy Faerghan revenge.

God it's sad how terrible this guy is at parcing the fiction he supposedly learned to analyze.

She's aware that Dimitri will just invade the Empire to get revenge if she falls to him. Giving up the war at this point won't bring peace, it'll only usher in further bloodshed, she knows what Faerghan culture of avenging the dead entails.

To anyone who sees this post, this is still by far the absolute worst exchange and most embarrassing group of lines in the history of Fire Emblem, from the standpoint of character writing, story, common fucking sense and respect for the intelligence of the player. Some will try to convince you otherwise, but this (and Crimson Flower as a whole) will never be beaten for such blatant and foul stupidity.

You can elect to never talk to any of these schmucks when you aren't forced to and pick a class they never were a part of, and still they have mixed feelings at worst about Byleth.

The devs were obviously not assuming the player would send the first 40 or so hours completely ignoring all the students. That isn't the kind of series Fire Emblem is, you're supposed to invest yourself in the lives of all the characters, especially since you can recruit the students.

The irony is Fewix's fans will talk and talk and talk about that very point in order to argue people who criticize Fates aren't giving it a fair enough shake, but suddenly once it's convenient to criticize Three Houses he's fine with not caring about anything, interesting.

Never let anyone convince you that the "worship" that Corrin or Alear got in their games was worse than this.

Dimitri at the start of the story earnestly hoped Byleth would help him to save Faerghus, he's recognizing that if Byleth had chosen the Blue Lions, Faerghus could be winning the war.

He's been holed up in Faerghus this entire time, more reserved than in any other route in the game. This route is quite literally the only time this perception of his character is false, and makes no sense to accuse him of. Or does "losing sight of his path as king" mean he failed to submit to your grand ambitions?

Fewix got the scene where Dimitri goes full boar and doesn't realize Dimitri is not in a healthy mental place.

It's fascinating how Edelcrits never stop and realize the only thing they ever have to draw on with Edelgard is her words, never her actions, because despite how harsh Edelgard is with her rhetoric, she's a lot softer in practice. Right in this very scene she's trying to avoid one last bout of bloodshed despite knowing her enemy would never agree with it.

Also, a lot of it is the localization at work:

So yes, Hanneman's inventions really could be more accessible than Crests, given a few years.

All you fucking have is VIBES that somehow work out in the endings without considering logistics or reality, despite the fact that this game wants to be grounded.

This is a strategy RPG, not a Legend of Heroes game, the world building isn't going to be as extensive as necessary to portray the post-war social and literal rebuilding of Fodlan.

This is a series where Corrin becomes ruler of Valla... somehow? Despite Valla being gone and there appearing to be no living citizens of it left.

Lastly, it's fucking rich that Hanneman says he despises nobles who put their wives through things like what happened to his sister, because what happens in Hanneman's ending with Dorothea?

To give it some benefit of the doubt that this ending doesn't really deserve, I would presume Dorothea was much more consensual to having kids than Hanneman's sister was.

And it's less reminiscent of what Saddler was trying to do in Resident Evil 4! Also this is just classic, "Edelgard doesn't everything right immediately, so she should just do nothing!"

Maybe the whole "I summon monsters that can kill people by the dozen through a simple sigh" part had something to do with it idk.

It's nuts that we're just expected to believe that the knights and the church were awful and malicious to Hapi and not get any perspective aside from hers.

We really don't need any other perspective, and any attempt to justify their treatment of her and everyone around her would be pathetic bleating at best.

Her whole character is ludicrous, and the fact that we're supposed to take her issues seriously even more so.

Dimitri's the one who gets Faerghus in on the war in Crimson Flower by allying himself to Rhea.

Oh my god, Lorenz is one of the few characters to have a functioning brain on this route, we did it everyone. We finally have acknowledgement of the fact that nobles in this game take advantage of the Seiros faith to maintain power and will continue to abuse power with whatever new tool they have. If only someone grew some brain cells before Edelgard ever enrolled, this whole thing could've been avoided :')

It's funny how Fewix considers this a gotcha against Edelgard when it only confirms that the church helps to support the aristocratic system Edelgard is working to overthrow. The nobles will need a new bedrock to cling to once the church is gone.

I'm jumping ahead a bit here before I actually finish the route, but I really wanted to comment on this since I just got this fuckass advice question.

Yes, Fewix would be furious about it, it pokes holes in his argument.

All it took was this one class advice question based on a hypothetical, (one that puts the onus of stopping the bloodshed on the people being victimized) and a request for an unconditional surrender from those she's beaten and trampled on for 5 years for people to think that Edelgard is merciful and doesn't actually want to kill Rhea.

There's ultimately only two ways for Rhea to be stripped of power, and those are with her consent or with her dead. Though Fewix is apparently fine with imprisoning Hapi, so really he should be okay with Rhea spending the rest of her centuries-long life in prison too, right?

Also, he's just mad that Edelgard demonstrates more mercy than Claude or Dimitri do :)
