many of the remaining show defenders will justify the heinous writing by saying stuff like, "has any of the haters considered that the SHOW is trying to make a statement about [something completely opposite to themes grrm was exploring in the book]?" maybe we would've, but the show puts the game of thrones music and logo at the beginning of every single episode as a way to cling to respectability and notoriety. so forgive me for assuming that it'd attempt to engage with what grrm was saying (which, despite its flaws, is far more internally logical and compelling than the show) whatsoever. the hostility to the source material is rooted in intellectual laziness but disguises itself as superior reading comprehension
