"period/unmedicated birth/breastfeeding representation in fantasy" tropes are kind of like the opposite of "bury your gays" and "fridging" tropes. they can all be executed in a very tasteless, unsubtle, shallow, unnecessary, or meaningless way, or they can be shown in a sensitive and thoughtful way. it really all depends on the writer. but if the former trope is used, people will universally call it feminist genius no matter what, act like it's never been done before, and excuse or justify any other degree of misogyny intrinsic to the story. and if the latter is shown the writer is automatically seen as an unforgivable homophobic misogynist regardless of the context

if you watched rhaenyra turn to daemon again and again like a helpless child, you'd understand why. arya and rey have their own unique strengths. they don't need to turn to the men in their lives for guidance. they killed the bad guys because it was necessary. rhaenyra killed otto because daemon pushed her too and she hated every moment of it.

rhaenyra just isn't threatening to any man

my point exactly. she's always cowering behind daemon, mimicking him, or being goaded into a decision by him. i have no concept of who rhaenyra would be independent of him

i cant fathom making a tv show and not understanding that the supporting cast has to be interesting

it genuinely makes no sense, i truly do not understand what ryan and sara were compelled by about the books since they seem to hate every character and thematic element as grrm originally wrote them. hugely missed opportunity because alicent and criston were some of the most dynamic characters in the book and the changes don't even make rhaenyra or daemon more interesting. they've made everyone on tb into a cardboard cutout and everyone on tg a cartoon villain. it's unbelievably flat characterization
