maybe if you see south and southeast asians dying in the heat and latin americans dying in floods and all you think of is imagining a reality where YOU are affected, then you should rethink how you see people of color. if you cannot see climate change as a real disaster until it is other americans dying in the heat and the floods and not just black and brown people, then don’t talk about climate change until you can acknowledge the grim reality of climate change for everyone.

I was rewatching the good place and it’s kinda interesting that the narrative relentlessly mocks chidi for being worried about his carbon footprint among other things. He gets made fun of for thinking he went to hell because be bought almond milk even though he knew it was bad for the environment. … but then that was just for real why most people were going to hell

The early narrative even states he went to hell because he was too annoying about not wanting to accidentally do something bad but he’s living in a world where he canonically will go to hell if he buys the wrong tomatoes.

my mom told me this story tonight about my grandfather. she said when he was a little boy he was afraid robbers would break into his house in the middle of the night and try to abduct him out of his bed. he thought that they would be able to feel that he was the shape of a little boy under the covers and know to grab him. so he would try to fall asleep in the shape of a letter of the alphabet. so that they would feel for him and be like "oh it's just the letter R, not a kidnappable child"
