But unlike the adult in this strip, Calvin’s dad actually APOLOGIZED for yelling at him when he saw how guilty his kid was:
Was just thinking about this last night, actually. What if we lived in a world where adults just owned up to actions where they acted out of line with kinder ideals and constructive approaches? Instead of defending a false and unrealistic ideal of perfectionism and upstandingness, they just…acknowledged that being a person is difficult, even when you’re older. And yeah, we may not be as prone to losing our shit quite like a less experienced person would, but we also will keep ourselves from crying even when we’re breaking inside. Because we’re afraid of how someone will perceive us. Because of how we were perceived during vulnerable stages in our development like this.
