Jousting at the festival to impress your lady love!!!

so i did some internet sleuthing about the illustration by george leonnec originally printed in 1924 in the magazine la vie parisienne  of a centuar being kissed by their rider, and first off I have found 2 versions, one that is cropped with a bouquet being thrown into the air and the second which is zoomed out adds more trees and bushes to the top right and bottom left corners and is copyrighted by someone on etsy. this piece is also going around by two names “The Ride” and “Centaur Kiss”

i will also say browsing historical art gives perspective to beauty standards like right now there’s a focus on women with highly defined bust-waist-hip ratio. I can almost hear the terfs calling the women in 1920′s la vie parisienne “not real women” because de-emphasis of curves was in style and the peak of femininity then.

also if it isn’t obvious already I’m a fan of the aesthetics the art movements of the 1870-1930′s western europe, 1890-1914 france especially. so stuff like la belle epoque (keyboard cant type accents), impressionist era music, art nouveau. the other artistic era im a fan of is the song dynasty partly because its one of the newer dynasties so art from that time is better preserved and second because its the last continuous time where the han people were not ruled by an invader, you can see after this point as aesthetic shift as art/fashion in later years was influenced by the mongol and later manchu rulers.

edit: i did more internet sleuthing! the piece is actually called spring morning and the artist’s name actually has an “s” at the end. the the title has been edited out both of the commonly circulated versions. this is the original. i actually like one of the edits with the bouquet.
