fandom sideblog 2: the sequel

Sorry just every time I see "DC stands for disregard canon" on a post about DC's timelines as a Flash fan I start breaking out in hives. No there very much is rhyme and reason to it that remains relevant to the overall narratives of DC, you just aren't seeing that because you're not reading the comics of the characters whose purpose it is to explain the cosmic level stuff.

Obviously I'm also really fond of them (gestures at blog theme) but truthfully the fandom has a big problem with people treating the Bats as if they're all there is, and while they're very fun and good in their own niche, it just isn't their job to explain what's going on in the wider universe. And there's so much going on in the universe they inhabit! That people are sadly missing out on! It makes me so sad especially to see people telling new fans to not even try to understand things, as if the explanations just don't exist and the Bats live in an empty vacuum devoid of meaning.

half convinced that besides the general jason glazing the only reason anyone even bothers to entertain this idea is because people can’t square the asian woman as being a bigger physical threat than the hulking white guy and so they have to underestimate her. its no different from a chud who plays a bit of tennis in the summer and convinces himself he could probably go toe to toe against naomi osaka

not enough will ever be done with the fact that barry and wally exist in the same time in the same role in the same mantle...if i had it my way those bitches would be living out of each other's pockets. beautiful wonderful world of them both showing up randomly in each other's comics to hang out in the kitchen and steal food from the fridge or talk about their day or surreptitiously pretend they're not both equally delighted and astonished that the other is even alive. FUCK.

consider a young wally that looked a lot like his aunt from the color of his hair to the shape of his eyelids and then as he grows up he slowly loses all those traits until the two of them look completely unrelated and it bothers him so so so much and then barry dies and a decade and some change later he gets resurrected and it turns out that in adulthood wally looks incredibly similar to barry in how he frowns and smiles and the shape of his nose and chin and a lot of small little details that are really only noticeable if they stand side by side so in the end wally looks exactly like his aunt and uncle's son again.
