Also just the fact that some people cannot work. Period. Full-time, part-time, work from home, whatever. There are some conditions and symptoms that just make adhering to the needs of a workplace impossible. Those people are still deserving of dignity and of being able to support themselves without having to rely on the kindness of others or charity. It's very briefly mentioned in the article because it is often treated like an afterthought, and the people making the system forget that these same people will likely have to prove their conditio s again and again in tests and assessments that are often humiliating and cruel.

I wholeheartedly agree there needs to be better support for those with disabilities and chronic conditions who can and do want to work. There are too many stories of employees with additional needs being treated as lesser or having their requirements dismissed as being "difficult". But we also need to accept work simply isn't an option for some and that people who cannot work are no less deserving or morally failing because of that.

You don't have to laugh at "girl math" or "girl dinner" or "I'm just a girl" jokes. You don't have to laugh at misogynistic humor that demeans women. You don't have to go along with it. You don't even have to sit there awkwardly pretending you didn't hear anything. You are allowed to speak up and say something.

You don't have to be a jerk about it. The most effective yet civil way of dealing with harmful "humor" is just pretending you don't get the joke and asking them to explain. "I don't get it, what's girl math? What's a girl dinner? What do you mean by you're just a girl? Can you explain the joke to me?"

And if you're feeling bold, you can just say (or follow up with) "I think that's misogynistic". That's allowed. You don't have to quietly endure misogynistic "jokes", you can call a spade a spade.
