NGL I JUST HEARD SOMEONE SAY, "MAYBE YOU DON'T NEED MORE TIME TO HEAL, MAYBE YOU NEED MORE EXPERIENCES THAT SHOW YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM A DIFFERENT REALITY," AND YEAH... IT ECHOED IN ME]
Ok now Iβm curiousβ¦ Which do you prefer:
I have lived in and out of the city, I prefer the city
I have only lived in the city, I prefer the city

I love redemption arcs but even more I love forgiveness arcs. Yeah, you did that awful thing and it was terrible. No, you can't undo it. But you can still be loved.
For my birthday my best friend got me a set of glasses that, when you stack them, look like a fish! Genius!
To my 25 - 35 year olds, you've reached the age where people around you are starting to give up on themselves because they think it's too late. Don't let that energy rub off on you. It's not too late.
I became a tattoo artist at 49.
Married the love of my life at 50.
Got my Class A CDL at 59.
You've got time.
As long as you're breathing, you've got time.
one thing about me is iβm gonna go lay down
Goddddddd thinking about that narrative moment when something horrible is happening and the character who has been frantically trying to come up with a way to fix it and getting more and more frantic and panicky justβstops. Because. Oh. Thereβs the solution. Theyβre not getting out of this alive but like. Itβs a solution for everyone else. Okay. Okay.

May your prose be gut-wrenching to readers and unintelligible to AI
guys you gotta stop thinking of women in their 30s as elderly itβs just misogyny
you also gotta stop thinking about actual elderly women as lesser human beings. Youth is not a measure of oneβs worth.
sorry, had to capture the way heβs sitting on me. whatβs going on here

who cares if you don't fully "get" the weird postmodernist novel on your first read, or if the experimental arthouse film is opaque to you on your first viewing? you are not being graded. you are not being scored. there is value in the attempt. every time i've read House of Leaves or watched Blue Velvet, I've gotten something new from it. the idea that you might not "get" something and therefore shouldn't bother with it is so silly to me

Art is subjective. I love rereading novels and rewatching films and finding different interpretations.
Think of how many people, when asked to talk about their favourite piece of media, will say "Every time I revisit it I get something new out of it."
You can rebalance that equation to "Previous times that I read this, I didn't get everything out of it that could be got" and then follow the idea back to the source, which must be: "The first time I read this, I didn't get even half of it."
QED: Your favourite books are likely to be the ones where, on first reading, you felt like you had no idea what was going on.
