My work was copied word-for-word by a creator in the AuDHD/ADHD space. I wanted to put together a few images about why this matters.
One thing I’ve noticed is how often conversations about autistic adults get redirected back to autistic children.
I often share my own perspective and do my best to make it clear that I am speaking from my lived experience as an autistic person. I would hope people recognize that I’m a nearly 40-year-old adult sharing my own experiences, not speaking on behalf of every autistic person.
Unfortunately, there is a double standard where autistic children can be idealized by some people, and the moment I say, “hey, I’m autistic and I’m an adult,” the tone shifts.
There should be an emphasis on supporting autistic people throughout our lives, not just focusing on a candy-coated, idealized version of who we were as children and then shifting that perspective into something almost demonized when we become adults.
Because there has been some confusion, I want to clarify that when I say “these are my experiences,” I mean exactly that: they are my experiences.
Every autistic person is different, and there may be overlap between our experiences. I’m always open to thoughtful discussion, but I ask that my experiences are not changed or reinterpreted in a way that no longer reflects what I actually experienced.
Things I was judged for that finally made sense after my autism diagnosis.

Here's to celebrating choice and the power that comes with it!
Today is International Childfree Day. While we have days to celebrate parents, this isn't meant to compete with or overshadow them. It's just to recognize that there's a different, equally valid way of living.
I'm great with kids, and I've definitely had comments about the fact that I don't want any that were just... not so nice. But that's okay, because choice is important.
So, as a neurodivergent, childfree person who's met many others both within and outside of my community, here's to you. Here's to making the choices that are right for you, even if they're not what other people expect.
Sometimes, I’m misunderstood. How I feel inside my body isn’t always reflected in my face, my tone, or my body language.
For years, I didn’t understand my place in the world, but discovering I was autistic, becoming involved in advocacy work, and embracing the communities I’m part of helped me find value in myself and recognize that I can help create change.
I created this because I’ve experienced what it feels like to be included only when it’s convenient.
A few things I’ve learned while navigating life with more self-awareness and sharing parts of my journey online.

These are some of the ways my neurodivergence has been used against me based on my own experiences, and it’s especially painful when this happens within our own communities because mental health matters too.
A little look at who I am, what I create, and what support would help me continue growing Retrophiliac.
These are the things that help me feel included as an autistic person, but every autistic person has different needs, accommodations, and preferences.
These are things I have personally experienced as an autistic person.
They happen more often than people realize, and being online can create even more opportunities for misunderstandings because people may not know I’m autistic or understand why I communicate the way I do.
I think these moments are also a good opportunity to have more conversations about autistic experiences and the different ways we communicate.
If you’re autistic, have you experienced these things too? Is there anything you would add?
I had an unexpected $1,350 vehicle servicing bill today, so I'm sharing my shop again in the hope that I can offset some of the cost. I don't drive myself, but I'm the one who covers our family's vehicle expenses because I'm currently the only one able to. I design accessibility and communication products with input from the autistic and neurodivergent community, and every order helps me continue doing this work. There are lots of discounted and discontinued items (including pride flag and pronoun pins) available while supplies last.

These are some things I find difficult as an Autistic person, but believe me: I’m working on them and continuing to learn what I need.
Seriously, What attention?
