Ranting and Raving

I've seen the paragraphs others have written about how they must have related to one another after the Stolen Earth debacle and being the spares in the tediousness of Ten/Rose, and I appreciate that people have been so creative and thoughtful about it.

I thought he'd been in the fight since he was 6 years old, not running up debts around his childhood town. Yes, yes, they showed him as a child on Kenari, but that line definitely implied that he'd been involved consistently for those years.

There are others, but I feel like that one really summarises my problem with Andor as a whole because it implies experience, a child soldier, and utter dedication to the cause. Andor didn't fully convince me that Cassian had done "terrible things" on behalf of the Rebellion in a way that wore him down morally over a long period of time.

I feel like this could have been super easily fixed if they'd shown him being involved in a flagging rebel cell on Ferrix. Maybe one set up by Maarva and Jeron that he'd taken over since Maarva's illness and Jeron's death. Brasso, Bix, and Timm could have been involved, and Bix's stronger dedication to the cause (and, therefore, Cassian) is another factor in Timm's jealousy. Wilmon could have wanted to join, but his dad was keeping him out of it for his safety and because he was too young. Maarva could still have become tired and disillusioned after her husband died and fighting an endless war until the Raid on Aldhani. One of Cassian's missions could have drawn the attention of both the Empire and Luthen, leading to him being hunted and recruited.

Cassian's journey could have been about learning to care about the wider galaxy's fight instead of his beloved adopted planet and family. Heck, get a Hera cameo talking about her own experience on Ryloth and her father choosing to stay behind. The contrast between Hera's determination to join the wider Rebellion and Cassian feeling like he was pressured into it because of the bounty on his head would have been interesting.

Also, I would have loved a Kallus/Fulcrum mention at some point.

It's really funny to read down the list and be like: yep, oh totally, meh, er no, excuse me but I have several issues with what you just said, yes, this is absolutely canon op, nope, oh gross, yes they are the best! 😊

Meryl Streep is a great actor and would probably do a great job.

But the move shows an unsettling ease with changing whatever they like. Obviously, like in the LotR's adaptations, some things have to be left on the cutting room floor because of the difficulties translating a book into visual media (RIP Tom Bombadil). Gender swaps are not one of them.

Aslan is specifically said to be a 'he', and the fact that they feel comfortable changing that gives me little hope that they won't change other things because they don't actually like Narnia as a series because of it's "dated" and "harmful" messaging.

This unwrites her, and she falls apart with her last view being of Luke and Leia and knowing that everything will be ok. (Because symmetry or poetry or something)

It's a journey about finding inner peace and sacrifice. In the end, despite thinking that she would just be nothing, she wakes up in the Force to the Force Ghosts, who thank her for making such a big, traumatic decision and invite her to watch over the New Jedi Order with them.

Here's a great elf lord setting up his kingdom and actually working with dwarves (properly!) as he rises above his blood-soaked history. People want to follow him just like they once wanted to follow Thingol, who came back from being missing and led them to build one of the strongest kingdoms in Beleriand, despite being 'lower' kindred than the Noldor. You don't get much lower than being a Feanorian after the First Age.

They see Annatar with his wisdom and his power so eager to help them, and they think of Melian, a Maia like him, who created her girdle that protected them from evil for centuries.

Yes, they realise that there won't be any new Lúthien running around (unless Annatar shifts form some mutter very lowly) but they see the resemblance, and they whisper about a new golden age for elves. A new safe haven for all elves despite their heritage...

Annatar hears all this and revels in it. He hates Lúthien and delights in making a mockery of her parents' memories. He pushes to seduce Celebrimbor more because he loves to hear this speculation and hope.

For example, the Diamond Dogs are absolutely right that Keeley can sleep with whoever she likes before Roy and Keeley sort themselves out. BUT she admits that she only slept with Jamie because she was getting back at Roy a bit. Roy was a twat about being 'busy' and not communicating well but it had only been one day before Jamie turned up on her doorstep and she decided to shag him because Roy wasn't texting her back. This is a kind of red flag to me, but the whole issue becomes about Roy not accepting Keeley's past when I really think that someone should have said to Keeley that revenge sex with a guy the guy you like hates because he put her off for ONE day, wasn't the most healthy thing to do.

Also, the space issue in series 2. It's perfectly fine and understandable that she was feeling smothered by Roy, but gossiping behind his back to their coworkers and then blowing up at him completely out of the blue (for him) was the wrong way to go about it. Rebecca does gently point out that she should talk to Roy about it, but after Roy's angered reaction to her screaming at him, it all again just becomes about his reaction and his growth to understand her better. Instead of, you know, Keeley not expressing her emotions properly to the right person.
