re: star wars. i am a finn/rey shipper. There are so few finn/rey fics on AO3 they don't even appear in the top 10 sequel trilogy ships.
given the history of anti-miscegenation laws, and also historical violence against black men who were in relationships with white women (real or perceived), i don't think this ship suffers from any less racism than finn/poe, despite the fact that rey is white. or maybe it's that good old combo of racism + simultaneous sexism; who knows? regardless, this ship always felt pretty obvious to me and i'll forever be angry that reylo ended up being the most popular f/m star wars ship when it's so toxic. i am not trying to start a ship war or be rude about someone else's ship, but i genuinely feel that reylo shippers overlook the misogyny kylo shows towards her, and i perceive the ship's popularity as a manifestation of fandom misogyny.
