I visited Motawi Tileworks today - an incredible artistic tile shop in Ann Arbor Michigan. They’re an absolute icon when it comes to amazing American tile work.
Here are the pieces I chose for myself … things which in my mind could have come out of Imladris or Gondor or Eregion✨

It is whispered amongst the women, that if you need refuge, haven, escape, go to the Elves.
They will take you.

Smiths of Eregion
Imagine being a smith of Eregion. You have this fantastic work environment, and a great boss who encourages your creativity.
Plus you get to work with a diverse group who bring their own skills and are happy to swap knowledge.
You work with Mithril. You get to build the world's best protections. You build doors with password protection to create safe spaces. And armour to protect the most vulnerable.
You write entire libraries, that other smiths review and anyone can read them, for free. The doors get thrown open and anyone who comes to your city can read your work.
You are part of something really good. You all build something incredible together.
Then Annatar comes along. Suddenly your boss isn't so nice. He's obsessed with these new rings Annatar wants.
The rings only seem to corrupt your work. They will be used solely for surveillance and oppression. Not just of you, but your dwarven friends and the second born you have encountered.
The balrog is let lose, destroying an entire environment, seemly overnight. The Mithril is only used to make rings now.
Your work disappears, overnight it seems. The library is now replaced wth propaganda about the rings. If you say how bad the rings are, your boss just dismisses you.
You watch helpless, as everything you built is corrupted. It's too late, when people outside the city start saying the rings are bad. Your life's work is already gone. All you can do is despair at the destruction.

This is how working in IT feels, after AI. We built something good once. And now it must be destroyed, for the planet.
I love Celebrimbor the material scientist, the research engineer, the quantum physicist. I love the idea of him teaching his apprentices with equations on blackboards and thumbnails on scrap paper before work begins in the forge. I love him running his forge like a research lab with unlimited funding and so much time. I love Celebrimbor and Narvi’s collaboration depicted as academic co-authorship. I love Eregion the university town, where scholars hold conferences and students hold informal debates in little bars. I love Eregion as a sea of curiosity and willingness to learn, with strong undercurrents of academic drama (iykyk). I love Eregion as the city of progress, but the right kind of progress, that exists in sync with the natural world, and yet elevates life beyond what nature alone can offer.

Eregion Campaign - 1/??
In the beginning, Annatar still believed he could outmaneuver Narya with restraint, distance, and careful self-control.
Unfortunately for him, Celebrimbor’s daughter was entirely capable of looking directly through him.
“He smiled no more, not because her words were untrue, but because she had reached deeper into him than he had ever intended to allow.”
“I had to avoid you to survive Eregion.”
“You did not survive Eregion by avoiding me.
You thrived through me.”
