NTs: "I hated this book because it misrepresents autistic people really bad. The author isnt even autistic and it's just not accurate. The main character just info dumbs random information in the middle of the story, that is not how autistic people talk. It's really bad. It should be burned, banned, it's horrible. I hate it soo much bro."
My autistic ass: Well, I fuckin loved that book and I found it super relatable...
(Same girl who said this is my anti-everything ex-friend)
(The book is "the curious incident of the dog in the night-time" if you were wondering)
Oh, same.
I finished reading it on the train yesterday, and whilst I recognise there are some factual errors (inability to lie, for example) I enjoyed it.
One Goodreads review said it was terrible because the author needed to 'make a choice about the fucking character' being high or low functioning because he seemed to be a mix... and it made me laugh and cry in equal measure because that's precisely why functioning labels are bogus.
I liked the idea of the powers of two to relax, I tried it whilst on the train and later before sleeping.
But, yeah. I... was expecting a bad book, because of everything I'd heard, but actually it was comforting (the format, rather than the bad things going on).
I find that the author did no research to be odd. The first thing I did when I read that waa google to see if the author was autistic...
I think I want to read everything that there is about Merlin.
Fictional, that is.
Do I begin with "The Birth of Merlin" (1622)? I think so. But there's a lot to follow after that...
I want to see the origin of Merthur 😅
I have a thing for books with a fascinating historical context.
I need more.
Nothing will ever replicate the pure hunger I had for finding out everything I could surrounding the Oscar Wilde trial. Part of me wants to deep dive into another book like that... part of me thinks I should return to all things Wilde again. I mean, I will finally make the pilgrimage to Pere Lachaise next month so a bit of a re-exploration can't go amiss.
Ah! What if it reawakens the ability to read I've been sorely missing recently?

I was obsessed with Turkish Delight as a child.
No I'd never had it. But I had seen Narnia and thought that anything that Edmund was willing to betray his family for had to be delightful.
Anyway I'm now realizing that this may have been a metaphor for how radical groups entice young boys into joining, give them something mediocre that they don't have access to and they might just betray there friends and neighbors for you.
Not the point of my post.
The point was to say when I finally tried Turkish Delight it sucked ass. It's not very good.
Wholly relatable!
There surely must be a veritable army of people who were compelled to try/enjoy Turkish Delight because of that series… and who found it was bloody awful.
I keep thinking I should try it again but... I haven't, yet.
(but also that makes so much sense, too!)
SING , MY ANGEL OF MUSIC
i love re-consuming media i used to love when i was younger. like wow! child me still is in me i am holding her hand and keeping her safe and doing her favorite things with her!!!!
I'm really feeling the urge to re-read the old faves.
Twilight came first... it must have been followed by TVD because when I read ths Vampire Academy I re-read it on a loop for at least a year (all because the first chapter was added at the end of Last Sacrifice!). Then came Harry Potter, after VA.
I could finally finish Night World too, as I understand it... it's complete?
Nic & Daisy as Adrian Ivashkov & Sydney Sage.
I haven't watched the series, frankly I was afraid to, but that last image... 🤩
These aren't from any TV series, these are from the Bloodlines books trailers they released when Bloodlines was still being published! You can still find them on YouTube. Hope this helps!
Oh! That's wonderfully helpful. Thank you! 😃
I can't be the only one who thinks this.
100%
It made me angry (for Rose and Dimitri) all over again. Finished IF and all I could think about was VA.

Scrolling through yesornopolls to learn LJ Smith died earlier this month is not how I expected my day to go.
Re-read incoming!
But first... an article said she'd written a fanfiction series which picked up where her Vampire Diaries series finished (assuming it means where her involvement ended, but I could be wrong).
Does anyone know where this is?
No one asked, but I can't hear the Ping Pong Song without thinking of Adrian and Rose. I don't know if it was the music video, or what, but those two in Frostbite and a bit later on... Every time I hear it, without fail, I'm thinking of the VA.
Boys of Summer, The Ataris version, has always been my Blood Promise Romitri song, too. It's been years, but I can't help but think of it.
Am I due a re-read?
I just realised I don't really have to wait until I've finished Death Note to start The Iliad.
I can, it seems, deviate from this arbitrary restriction I've placed upon myself.
Who knew?
Fuck it. I'm doing it again. Except this time you'll probably fucking learn something, nerds. Spin the wheel. If you don't know what you landed on, look it up. Fill your brain with facts. Hallelujah.
Great. Now that you've done that...
Smash (or hug for aces)
Pass
Kill
No, none of the options are people.
Fuck it up, nerds. Go wild. Chase your dreams.
