Solange Knowles’ Saint Heron Library digitizes rare and out-of-print works by Black and brown artists, preserving them for future generation
"The Saint Heron Library is home to our archival collection of primarily rare, out of print, and 1st edition titles by Black & brown authors, poets, & artists," she captioned on Instagram.
Throughout time, when certain aspects of physical media aren't accessible, a digital archive library is crucial in a society driven by fast-paced media consumption, where the depth and nuance of marginalized voices can easily be overlooked or forgotten.
...
In our digital age, where much of our interaction with media is limited to clicks and reposts, Knowles’ digital archive provides a safe space for scholarly and artistic work that might otherwise be lost. Saint Heron’s library aims to foster a space where the wisdom and creativity of these “great minds” can thrive, supported by an infrastructure that champions preservation and accessibility.
The library will not only serve as a place of significant works but also act as a catalyst for more conversations around artists, scholars and enthusiasts. "As the market and demand for these books, zines, and catalogues rises, we would like to play a small part in creating free access to the expansive range of critical thought and expression by these great mindsss," Knowles said.

if we're black sails homeric epic / odyssey-posting. I think miranda functions as a sort of amalgam and stand-in for so many of the epic's women. she's cassandra. knowing the future, but never believed. she's penelope. husband forcibly taken as a result of political machinations beyond her control (presumed dead). she's helen. fleeing her husband's house with another man. she's calypso. trapped on an island, only her lover for company. she's circe. the strong and beguiling witch. she's athena. providing wise council and divine guidance. she's clytemnestra. her fury strikes down a powerful man, as revenge for what she's lost. mistress, wife, mother. indeed
Before Pride Month comes to an end, I wanted to memorialize my husband unintentionally calling me a bisexual failure at the start of the month. (We laughed about it later, and I wasn't really offended!)
Side note: Thank you for looking at my art! I actually read every note and comment (though I'm a bit shy and don't always respond). I don't think I'll ever stop being surprised and grateful that my silly doodles make others happy. :)

it’s so special to me that so much of fan culture is textual analysis for the love of the game. like thank god there are people in my phone who are also thinking about this thing i love so much that they are writing transformative fiction as character studies and setting clips of the show to music with theme-relevant lyrics and writing long text posts analyzing every line of dialogue like!! yay!!!
black sails if it was bad and there was no all this will be for nothing we will have been for nothing defined by their histories distorted to fit into their narrative until all that is left of us are the monsters in the stories they tell their children
An edited screenshot from season four episode 10 of Black Sails. It is a close-up of Captain Flint (he is visible from the shoulders up.) Behind him is the lush, green, ominous forested landscape of Skeleton Island. He is leaning forward intently, from a seated position, looking imploringly and distraughtly at something (Silver) off-screen. Flint's face is dust-covered and bloodied, having recently been in a battle.
Atop the image is a fake caption (with an edited line from the 2026 Odyssey film) reading: "Our golden age of piracy is collapsing."
Tasia Fortune’s aunt described her niece as a “strong-minded, big-hearted, vibrant young woman.”

Black ppl in the US do not hang ourselves, that is something that was done to us way too much by nonblack ppl for us to prefer that as a way to self harm. there have been so many recent cases of Black men, women, boys, & girls coming up found lynched this year alone.
most being ruled as suicide without further investigation. but aint never been no laws or coordinated media efforts to stop hate against Black ppl, no mass organizing done by nonblack on our behalf to protect us, unprompted.
Black people in the empire and outside of it have always, ALWAYS, been the ones to force other groups to pay attention when we make noise for each other and incite action where everyone else is too cowardly & comfortable in their own locations on the axis of white centrism bc their groups not affected to the same degree, intensity, intentionality.
Black people worldwide deserve better than lip service, apathy, & performativity from white ppl and nonblack poc. we deserve so much better than a world organized by and on our exploitation, extraction, cannibalizing, imprisonment, subjugation, villainization, & murder (by intent or neglect).
Is that female character actually like a mom to another character or did she just acknowledge that character’s existence? This and many other questions fandom gets wrong about female characters

it’s simple: when I like an adaptation, everyone complaining about changes to the text is a whiny baby who needs to get over themselves and accept that sometimes you have to change the story to enrich the experience/work within the medium. when I don’t like an adaptation, it’s because nobody else understands the core themes of the original work and would be better off just creating a story independent of what they’re trying to adapt.
nothing can break the bond between a friend who loves spoilers and a friend who just watched an amazing show and needs to tell someone the entire plot from start to finish
alternatively: nothing can break the bond between a friend who doesnt read and a friend who just read an amazing book and needs to tell someone the entire plot from start to finish
nothing can break the bond between a friend who cannot and will not watch horror but is still interested and a friend who just watched an amazing horror movie and needs to tell someone the entire plot from start to finish
sometimes you invent mind prisons for yourself for no good reason and youre like "i really like being in the mind prison" even though you dont actually like being in the mind prison

Someone asked me a while ago if I still had a photo of the worst sink I had ever seen while apartment hunting in Los Angeles. I assumed I deleted it so I didn't answer the ask and now it's gone, but as it turns out, yes, I do still have a photo of it.
trans poc, please i beg of you get transition inspo of people with your ethnicity
i was incredibly dysphoric about my round face and softer features until i started looking at the faces of hispanic men and realized that those features weren’t feminine at all, they were ethnic features white supremacy had conditioned me to see as less masculine
your ethnic features are beautiful, and you do not need to look european to look masculine or feminine
