Sam Mabel and Neil are instant best friends. They're all weird in the same way, i think they'd just instantly click. All three of them are just on the same wavelength. Her and Norman get along better than anyone expected. Norman can recognize a fellow weird kid when he sees one.

Adam and Dipper actually really enjoy hanging out together, despite them both taking a bit to warm up to each other. (Adam thinks Dipper is a bit too young for them to have anything in common). Once they both find out they like history/cataloging weird occurrences, they end up spending hours swapping notes. He's friendly to all of them, but isn't friends with them in the way the others are. He's a bit too old to hang out with them (with the exception of Dipper bc he's cool) (like in the way a high school senior hangs out with the freshmen). He's very charmed by Mabel and her grappling hook, and shows her yo-yo tricks.

Lizzie and Coraline are instant besties. (they both have blue hair and pronouns). Their personalities would mesh really well, plus Coraline probably reminds Lizzie of a less annoying Norma. Lizzie and Mabel also get along, much to Dipper's annoyance. (he's desperately trying to be friends with Lizzie and Adam bc they're cool older kids). Lizzie thinks Mabel is really fun, and they end up DIYing clothes together.

Gisu and Wybie get along really well after she finds out Wybie also likes engineering and tinkering. (they build so many unsafe machines together). Gisu finds Coraline annoying (a bit too much like Norma), but tolerates her bc she's friends with Wybie. Gisu also gets along well with Mabel and Norman (i don't really have any basis for this, just vibes). She likes talking gadgets with Dipper, but that's about it. Gisu bullied Neil (and everyone else too) at first, but quickly warmed up to him, and now they're pretty good friends.

Morris also gets along well with Wybie (they became friends through Wybie hanging out with Gisu). He makes a genuine effort to connect with Coraline (he thinks she's cool in the same way Lizzie is). Coraline bullies Morris in the same way she bullies Wybie (lovingly, that is)

And body autonomy does include things that you don’t personally like either. I was prompted to write this post after a series of bad takes from progressives, but one of them was re-hashing the Sabrina Carpenter album cover drama with “I don’t think it’s conservative of me to think that the album cover is a bad look when we’ve seen images of women being abused in this way” because I do actually think you’ve failed to understand feminism by projecting your morals onto a woman who was consensually expressing her own autonomy just because she expressed it in a way that you didn’t like or that made you uncomfortable.

Body autonomy also means unhealthy choices. Body autonomy also means regret rates. Body autonomy also means freedom of sexuality. Body autonomy also means mutilation. If you believe body autonomy has limitations and exceptions, then your feminism is most likely surface level.

She is far more like Elon Musk. She is a radicalized person with an extreme amount of social and financial power, and for YEARS she has been using that power to try to influence her government into hurting vulnerable people, on purpose. And she has succeeded. THAT is the problem with her, and THAT is why spending money on her books is so dangerous, not because her books aged badly.

It's not that people are getting worse or better. It's that .he more you read, the more you exercise your brain, the harder it is to ignore that a large percentage of humanity has always been incurious, unromantic, intellectually lazy, etc. The details of how they make it through life without sharing your interests change, but nerds like us have always despaired of how stupid everyone seemed to be getting. It's an extension of the old joke, "When I was a kid, my parents knew everything, but now that I'm grown up it's amazing how little they know now." Survival bias kicks in hard here too, because the utter trash of previous generations is rightfully forgotten and only the better stuff remains for people to look back upon and sigh.

It's not that men were more romantic and poetic back then, the unromantic and semiliterate louts just left much less of a mark on history. Grandma remembers the lovely letters grandpa wrote and not the 99% of the time he was just kind of a boring guy. The thousands of forgettable mystery stories predating Poe have been forgotten and everything thinks Poe was the first. Most of the people complaining about how reading novels will rot your brain and soul have been forgotten. And so forth.

People today aren't worse, we just haven't filtered out our generation's forgettable people.

The internet makes it seem worse because we can see so much more crap from the people who will be forgotten after they're gone, and those of us who used to be doomed to feel mostly alone in intellectual or artistic pursuits can now find thousands of people with whom to commiserate.
