Every once in a while I’m convinced that I’m gonna start a daily diary or something and every time it only lasts like one day before I forget to use it.

A lot of my writing mentors over the years have encouraged me to write at least one sentence a day in a journal and although creative writing is the entire reason for my existence, no I can’t do that.

“But Roman don’t you post on tumblr every day?” that’s posting, my dudes. This isn’t for posterity. This isn’t to further my skills. This is yelling into the uncaring void that occasionally yells back.

Legit have had trouble with this and been told the same thing. I started doing a travelers journal thing that I can put all my notes in and tracking and change booklets out so I'm not doing the same notebook all the time.

Ive kept up with the daily(ish) diary better than ever before. Also, though, I can have all my notes in one spot and organize them better. I also put a booklet in for writing and have (slowly) started doing writing prompt fills in it!

I identify the most with the woman who has a green velvet ribbon around her neck and keeps being like "DONT untie my neck ribbon or something really bad will happen" and then her husband unties the ribbon and her head falls off. this is extremely real to me. spent my whole life like "please don't do this thing to me or really bad stuff will happen" and everyone around me being like "that sounds fake" and doing it anyway. and then my head fell off!

there will never be anything as funny as the mutual disbelief between long form and short form fic writers about each other's style.

short form writers look at people writing 100k+ fics as though this is some sort of talent given as part of a fae bargain, that the commitment required shows some sort of ungodly mental fortitude.

meanwhile long form writers look at people writing 1000 word one shots like god I would cut off my left nipple to be able to say anything concisely. i would love to play with multiple ideas. free me from the shackles of this child I have birthed. i love them but I now must take them to t-ball and doctor's appointments and they're going to destroy everything I own.
