Just a sketch of Tsuyu in a strapless dress of some kind that I showed to my patrons earlier -u- So my most used art program these days is Procreate on the iPad, and they just recently released an update that brought in some cool new functionality. What we have here is the same image that's been run thru some of the new filters:  The first one has chromic aberration, which gives that hazy glowing rim effect by splitting the red, blue, and green channels and offsetting them from one another ever so slightly. It reminds me of 90s anime photographed straight off the TV ^3^ I also used the new gradient map feature to lay down a mix of colors that I normally wouldn't think of :) The 2nd image is just the basic starting line art The 3rd image has some greytone values laid down, with a spark of shine added to the black void of her pupils :D And finally the 4th image is the new color halftone effect, applied to a desaturated (black and white) version of the art. Esmeralda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame in the style of Alphonse Mucha. This was fun - researching the spectrum of Mucha’s works so I could pick and choose among his design elements and plug them into this commission :) One of our favorite clients/patrons has always wanted to see Esmeralda in my style (and to my great shame, I hadn’t seen the movie until very recently) and somehow I got the idea to put an art nouveau spin on it instead of the usual straight illustration that I do. I always admired the style and always shrank away from ever trying to do it, cuz of all the geometry and tiny circle elements and whatnot. And lemme just say…..those circles made me work for it XD ha ha. They got a piece of me. I wish I could find out what makes Photoshop chug when my work gets layer/effect heavy. Cuz it doesn’t care what kind of graphics card/ram/processor you have.
