We bring this news with deep sorrow. Due to an unexpected issue with her heart, Cat Frazier died June 29th, 2026. Creator of the Tumblr @animatedtext, Queen of Memes, and host of “Memesplaining” on Super Deluxe, she crafted a unique aesthetic by blending nostalgic and modern elements of design, producing meme formats that are still referenced daily. Beloved sister, dedicated friend, confidant, leader, and activist, her shoes will never be filled. She was able to relate to people in their worst moments and turn pain into laughter. She’d use art, jokes, and her wit to touch people’s lives. She cared about so many through her work– she made online and real world communities her friends, bringing people into her world and coming into theirs. She will be loved, missed, and always remembered.
