This outfit must be around five years old, but I still love this dress to death.

Butterflies can’t see their wings. They can’t see how truly beautiful they are, but everyone else can. People are like that as well.
I cut my hair. Short.
I alternate between feelings of longing for my long hair and relief that it will no longer get stuck beneath my purses’ straps, between my SO’s fingers/hands/arms/legs and on my lips when wearing lip balm, nor get sweaty when it’s hot and blinding when it’s windy.

Last time I wore lolita before leaving for Okinawa. I had a lovely time with classic trio @mlle-marianne, @thosehappyyesteryears and @odore at Le Parloir tea place.

The finished grecian inspired ensemble! It’s inspired by statues from the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The costume consists of a chiton, belt, crown, and skirt. The chiton is made from satin faced chiffon and sewn at the shoulder. The stitching is hidden with sequined covered buttons.
The crown and belt are made from felt weight interfacing that is covered with chiffon and embellished with sequins and beads. The belt closes with metal clasps. The skirt is made from linen and is there for modesty more than anything else since the chiton fabric is a bit sheer!
I had a specific vision in mind for this, and I chose to follow that more than historically accuracy (thus the fabric choices) but I did do a good amount of research for this. The only part i’m unhappy with is the length (it’s too long) but that’s easy to fix.
Overall I really like it! And it’s really comfortable to wear, which is a nice change from my other historical costumes. Construction notes are here!
