a lot of the DSM’s very clearly prejudiced diagnoses (e.g. hypoactive sexual desire disorder, gender dysphoria, transvestic disorder, etc.) try to skirt around the prejudice by saying “the disorder lies in the patient’s distress over being this way, not the behavior itself :)” like hmmm do you think their distress has anything to do with societal expectations around “normal” sexuality and gender? or is distress just this magic thing that exists in a vacuum with no outside influence
like keep in mind that homosexuality was in the DSM until pressure was put on the APA by gay rights activists, and they “removed” it in 1973 and replaced it with many different diagnostic labels over the years to describe “this person is gay and distressed over it so we’re treating the distress with conversion therapy. blease don’t think we’re homophobic.” it wasn’t until 2013 that distress over one’s own sexual orientation was removed entirely from the DSM. do what you will with this information and begin to wonder what psychiatry’s actual motives are for continuing to pathologize queerness and gender nonconformity.

I’ve never really learned how to cope with paranoia, especially paramisia related paranoia.
One thing is having my trust betrayed by people who I thought were against theriform animal and chrono child abuse but were proven to commit or support it, which has made me bitter to the bigger figures and circles in the space, another is having experienced so much casual paramisia that it has made me deathly afraid of my friends not accepting me and people in my irl life finding out about my attraction.
I was and still am so happy to express myself, but my paranoia has really affected my ability to post without shaking in fear, i wish it wasn’t so hard. I wanna create more art so bad but I feel watched whenever I do, I feel like I’m only one post away from having my life ruined.
Im not giving up, im still gonna post once im on break, i just needed to get that out. If anyone has felt similarly to this, just know ur not alone and that I get your struggles, I really do.

Consent is more than the ability to say yes or no. It’s the full understanding of and willingness to do something. There’s really no evidence to support animals understanding complex concepts well enough to be able to consent,despite being very smart creatures ^^

Do you find your identity to be different of that of alterhumans and therians? As an outsider of all three groups I was always curious, since they all kinda overlap heavily, and I have tried hard to understand the differences between them but still struggle to do so at times.

Could there be some variation of the biasto hanky code for those who aren't looking for someone to do CNC/have sex with and just want to display para pride?
I definitely wanna rework the biasto one a bit bc even back then I kicked myself for making the meanings too sexual leaning rather than neutral like the others.
Handkerchiefs where the rose is a different color could provide helpful signaling tho! For example a blue rose could be used as an exclusively non sexual one if wanted.
Again, I may also change the meaning slightly but I think this could be helpful in providing variations! Thank you for the ask, it reminded me why I wanted to rework my original concepts for the first four paras! :<)
bwahh okay hi wi'm on anon because wi'm "closeted" about all this.. so wi'm tempted to use the para hanky code you came up with, but wi'm actually a paraparaphile (wi'm attracted to the idea of the paraphilia and the idea of people having the paraphilia) so liiike. technically neither side would make sense for mwe. wi was thinking wi'd do it on the "auto" side to possibly show other paras that wi'm into it (if they wanted to do any sorta hookup or smth based on that. if you get mwe), but like........ wi'm not into it in an auto way!! so idk.

Tbh I’m a bit stumped myself lol, this is definitely an interesting ask and I wish I had a more satisfying response to give to you.
The left side would make more sense to use imo, tho rn the only thing I can come up with is simply clarifying your attraction to the person, it does have me thinking now to update the meanings a bit or create a new hanky for specifically paraparaphiles.
Once I’m done with my preparations for the deviance reclamation post I’ll most likely work more on the hanky codes, everyone really likes them and I myself am really fond of them :))

When I was an anti I was convinced (based on nothing) that using fiction, toys or kink was “feeding into your paraphilia” and would make you want to act on it, but after actually testing this I realized that having a harmless outlet really does the opposite. It can be very healthy.
Hard relate, it actually makes me think of how comforting it has been using my sona Xeno as a way to express my deviancy, thanks to it I don’t deal with as much internalized guilt and fear as I used to, a big fuck you to the grown ass adults who used to convince me as a kid that my thoughts made me evil, all because they didn’t know how to deal with discomfort.
I am not entirely satisfied with contact stances myself and I do think they probably need an upgrade, but half of the people who complain about them sound like if someone said this about gun control:
"Gun control stances are too vague! I don't understand whether people who are pro gun control mean that everyone who ever thought of a gun should be killed to death with stones or that someone who shot their wife in her own house should be gently reprimanded for it! I also don't understand whether they apply to water or glue guns :( I mean, if gun control would apply to glue guns then I can't be pro gun control. Depriving people of glue guns is just stupid. I also like Sex Pistols (the band) and I think that subjecting its members to extra control would be pretty totalitarian, TBH. I have been very meaningfully participating in gun discourse this whole time but I just cannot do this anymore, guys :("
