DAI: Varric, Cole, Vivienne romances
Dragon Age is my favorite game series. recently I was reading some Varric fanfic (I love him) and decided to consider what an Inquisitor romance would look like (I prefer him with Hawke due to the removed ending with him, but I doubt he’d be over Bianca yet).
I decided to challenge myself to come up with scenarios where an Inquisitor could romance Cole, Vivienne and Varric.
First, Varric Tethras my beloved 😩☺️. I think he would only be available to dwarves and elves (Qunari and Humans just don’t feel compatible given his past), who have had their hearts broken by Blackwall, Solas, or Iron Bull betrayals. You would be able to heal each other’s heartbreak and move on. Only available in Trespasser. Can’t be romanced if you leave Hawke in the fade.
He would likely be a bit awkward and joke and rub his neck a lot awkwardly. He has been pining for Bianca so long that I doubt he’d knows how to have a relationship anymore. He would be loving and loyal though. He would take the Inquisitor to the Hanged Man and on tours of Kirkwall. Veilguard would devastate Inquisitor - especially if their previous romance was Solas.
Vivienne would only be with a human (Trevelyn) non-mage man. You need to have agreed with all of her choices, except for becoming Divine (Divine is generally celibate). Only available in Trespasser so she has time to grieve her former love.
Marriage in Orlais is political and not romantic, so she would likely try to get you to marry someone else with power and simply be your mistress.
Expect to be dressed up in fancy Orlesian clothing and bossed around a bit. No PDA - unless it stands for poise, Donny-mommy, ambition. Dates with her would be classy. She would want the best for you and make sure that you always treat yourself with respect in how you present yourself. As the Inquisitor - you deserve the best.
Cole. Romance him only as a mage of any gender or race. Only possible if you do the human Cole route and choose kind options for others.
His love story would likely be sweet and awkwardly honest. He would likely say your feelings out loud quite often (Honestly, I like the idea of my OC becoming nonverbal or mute and them falling in love when he is able to communicate her thoughts to others). Probably would have “dates” that are just him having you help him to help people around Skyhold. By Tresspasser, he would be more openly romantic. Kisses and compliments. He wants you to feel good and is always wanting to “help”.
also, lots of headcanons posts exist for romanceable companions (how they’d react to various things, kinks, parenting, etc)…But not these three. Feel free to reblog with your headcanons about romancing them.
