Hey everyone! OP here and geez this post has truly blown up over the years. However there are some things I wish to address that people have brought to my attentions and i URGE all of you to please reblog this version of the post from here on out.

The program i use to organise the different pages in the right order is bookbinder’s collate. It costs around €10 from what I remember and is really easy to use but there are other free programs too.

I made this post when I was 17 and was yet unaware of the legality and history surrounding fanfictions. Fanfictions have had a VERY LONG battle, especially given that back in the certain Authors and creators of Original IPs would straight up sue fanfic authors for copyright reasons. Even today Fanfics are in a copyright greyzone, because you cannot make money off of them as the IP the fanfics are based on do not belong to you.

Because of this blindspot of teenage-me assumed downloading fanfics was illegal. So as many have pointed out since: Printing and Binding fanfictions is not illegal IF and ONLY IF you bind them for personal use (like in my case I bind them into physical books because I cannot look at any screen for a prolonged time due to some slight visual impairments) and do not make money from it.

However, I have since been made aware of a disturbing rise in etsy stores and even Amazon pages which SELL bound fanfictions which were more often then not, not even written by the Etsy-store-owner. THIS is in fact very much illegal and can endanger the fanfic community and everything we have fought for in the past.

Now I do not claim that this post of mine is at the root cause of this rise in etsy-fanfic-binders. This post does not have that many notifications in the grand scheme of things and has never even made its way outside of tumblr.

He never forgot that kid he wanted to protect, that young soldier he wanted to train. He remembers the devoted ghost fire fondly, and Wu Ming is the wound on Xie Lian’s soul that never healed. They were always thinking about each other. They always cared for each other to some capacity. They like each other. They are friends. Like, yes, greatest love story ever told, he looked for him forever, but Xie Lian had no idea!! Like, if Xie Lian had known Wu Ming lived, he would have looked for him, too.

Qinheng-jun takes the shitty middle road. Protects this person from death but doesn't let them go free.

His brother raises his sons. We can assume they are constantly told, don't be like your father. If you are ever in this situation, take the righteous path.

It happens to Lan Wangji. He doesn't take the righteous path. He goes far further than his father. Prevents the murderer from being captured, injures his relatives himself to defend them. He is horribly punished for it, it's the worst thing that has ever happened to Lan Xichen and Lan Qiren, and it doesn't even work, Wangji's beloved still dies. Clear object lesson for Lan Xichen. This is the only, the greatest mistake Wangji has ever made. Lan Xichen can never, will never, make it himself.

Of course he would be thinking about it, after Wangxian bring their suspicions to him. Of course that's what's behind his conversation with Wei Wuxian about Lan Wangji and their parents. Of course he has to be trying to psych himself up about it, from the return of the Cloud Recesses pass to the final confrontation in the temple.

Even Wangji is reminding him that he knows what he has to do. And yet he doesn't want to, he doesn't want to, he'll take any other option, please-
