hey just a heads up, oreo is doing this as a distraction so you won't notice the boycott on oreos and their parent company, mondelez. along with Nestle, and proctor & gamble
they're being boycotted because the harvesting of palm oil and sugar cane for their products, like oreos, kit kats, smarties, ritz, herbal essences, pantene (products being boycotted) is all harming the indigenous Melanesian communities of West Papua New Guinea. the way that these products are being harvested is straight up ecocide. the communities' rivers are poisoned. their forests are being cleared with nothing left
we NEED to care, boost the power of the Melanesian communities, speak up about it, and save their communities and this earth.
you can make oreos at home y'all

This month people have been tearing Flock cameras off their poles.
This month people have been tearing Flock cameras off their poles. Perched above public streets, they are birdlike things, weatherproof, and they photograph every passing car and file it in a searchable national database. Somebody cut two of them in half at Washington Avenue and Westcott in Houston, spray-painted the wreckage, and left an American flag on one of them. Police were notified on the morning of the Fourth of July. Somebody severed a camera in Rutherfordton, North Carolina. The police department posted the photograph itself and collected more than twenty thousand comments. âNot all heroes wear capes.â âGive them a medal.â Here is what the cameras do when nobody cuts them down. Cops use them to hunt immigrants and to follow ICE targets across state lines and to find women who ended pregnancies in states where that is a crime and to watch exes and to watch women they want, without a warrant and without a judge. A cop types a reason in a box and the box does not check. A man in Burleson, Texas, told deputies his girlfriend had taken abortion pills. He showed them the photographs, the FedEx envelope, the instructions. Deputies opened a death investigation into a non-viable fetus, and the district attorney told them the state could not charge her, and they searched anyway: 83,345 cameras across 6,809 networks, a month of everywhere she had been. The reason they typed was had an abortion, search for female. The search reached Illinois and Washington, where what she did was legal. They found her in Dallas. She came into the sheriffâs office a week later, and they thought she had come to explain the fetus, and she had come to report that the man who called them had put a gun to her head. A sheriff in Jerome County, Idaho ran his wifeâs plate more than seven hundred times in three months. He typed the same reason every time. Test. The attorney general found nothing to charge him with. He retired in April. The Institute for Justice counts at least twenty-two officers who used the system to track people they were romantically interested in, and calls that almost certainly an undercount. And the cameras keep falling.
Become ungovernable.
Looks like the ACLU has a guide on how to take action in your community. They've already done a lot of ground work.

KICK THE CAN!
Letâs play the biggest game of kick the can on the internet.
To kick the can, reblog it. I wanna see how long this can go on for.
the oldest reblogs for this post that i can find are from january 2nd of 2013. this can has been getting kicked around tumblr for almost 13½ years now
And yet somehow this is my first time kicking it!
I just saw an acquaintance use "đđ" in place of the word genocide and. like. at what point are we going to decide that this kind of self-censorship is too degrading to abide anymore.
"grape" "sewer-slide" "the panini" I feel like I'm surrounded by Rugrats who overheard the grown ups talking about the news.
I'm tired of seeing people excuse algospeak because "corporations are making us do it." Why are we all letting them do that. The Internet is real life. Get mad about it.
I donât care what excuse people make for using these silly, childish phrases. You are directly contributing to the infantilisation and dumbing down of language and culture.
When I see post after post using this đ I simply cannot take it seriously. No, this person wasnât đed. They were raped. That person wasnât âunalived.â They were killed.
Serious topics need to be discussed seriously and with the weight the people who go through these things deserve, not like children who are scared to say big words.

Oh, to be a little kitten who just got vaccinated and then taken to a high-end restaurant and tasted the best food the chefs could offer and then fell asleep in a basket.
âthis fic will have only ten chaptersâ and other lies writers tell themselves
âthis is a one shot, I swearâ the infamous sequel
and the third part: âi wonât start writing this, I have to finish other things firstâ
âI can finish writing thisâ the fanfic no one asked for.
âI swear, thatâs really the final chapter count.â
âiâm going to get this done and post it by tomorrowâ
âIâm totally not going to start writing a new fanfic before Iâve finished the last one,â says the person who is now writing four.
âIâm totally in the zone to write this one fic. I can finish it in two days.â Muse is gone by then
âI have the last 20,000 words outlined, I just need to sit down and write them.â
to be clear, I believe younger artists and minors can write good fics (not to say âfanfic must always be goodâ either because it is a hobby and I still believe that as long as itâs done with love and the artistâs joy, it is good) and I believe itâs good when younger artists and minors start making art at young ages.
that said, a lot of fanfics out there that you read and love are done by adults with kids, jobs and responsibilities. adults who have years, decades of practice under their belts. adults who donât let life and responsibilities take away their joy in creating.
someoneâs love and passion donât suddenly go away the second they reach a certain age. so if anything, I feel sorry for people who say âadults shouldnât write fanfics or make fan artâ because what these people really say is that they expect themselves to stop having fun and finding comfort in things that bring them joy and comfort the second they reach a certain age. itâs sad that they put an expiration date on their own fun and source of comfort.
What's that??? Why, it's this month's Patreon Requests!!
digital selfharm is real. do NOT check up on that ex-partner/ex-friend. do NOT reread those old messages/conversations that you know will hurt your feelings all over again or that will otherwise make you feel like shit. do NOT block evade to see if youâre being talked about. inhale. exhale. let it pass and youâll be better for it.

Please return us to a world where Notp and squick are used for a ship you donât like instead of just making up a load of bullshit about how immoral it is or w/e lolÂ
a short selection of concepts and phrases that used to be commonplace in fandom and weâd really benefit from making that a thing again:
NOTP: the opposite of an OTP (One True Pairing). It is a ship a fan strongly dislikes. The word is a portmanteau of ânoâ and âOTPâ and thus is not a contraction of any particular phrase.
Squick: anything that is a deep-seated, visceral turn-off. Squicks may be shared by many fans or be specific to one; one personâs kink may be another personâs squick.
YKINMKATO, or kink-tomato: Your Kink Is Not My Kink, And Thatâs Okay: used to indicate support for fannish diversity and to distinguish between disapproval or kink shaming and simply having different taste.
DLDR: Donât Like, Donât Read: a phrase used to warn against complaints about an aspect of fic or meta. A âlive and let liveâ philosophy of fandom, which places the responsability for avoiding content one doesnât want to see on the side of the fanwork consumer, rather that on the creatorâs.
SALS: Ship And Let Ship: similar to the above specifically about shipping tastes.
YMMV: Your Mileage May Vary: a phrase used to acknowledge that any given individualâs personal opinion on the topic at hand may differ due to their own tastes, standards, values, experiences, etc.
As the OP points out, all of these crucially imply no moral judgment of what theyâre designing.
(definitions lifted more or less wholesale from fanloreâs relevant pages)
bring the healthy fun back to fandom!
DLDR has a modern offspring Iâd like to nominate for honorary status on this list! âDead Dove Do Not Eatâ (or simply âDead Doveâ) is a tag that basically says âthis is going to be awful, this is a hurtfest. Read at your own risk and donât yell at me if youâre an idiot.â
DDDNE doesnât replace DLDR, but I think itâs a very useful addition.

Why is there a diarrhea parasite outbreak in America?
Because Donald Trump and his Republican allies cut funding to disease prevention and control.
Why is measles back in America?
Because Donald Trump and his Republican allies, including RFK Jr, cut vaccine and measles prevention funding and programs.
Why is the New World Screwworm infecting cattle in Texas, when it had previously been eliminated from the area?
Because Donald Trump and his Republican allies, including Elon Musk, cut USAID funding, which in part worked to monitor and prevent screwworm outbreaks.
Why was there a flu outbreak in our armed forces?
Because Donald Trump and his Republican allies, including Pete Hegseth, cut vaccination requirements for our armed forces, putting all of them at risk alongside our military readiness.
What contributed to the Covid outbreak?
Donald Trump and his Republican allies cut funding to a pandemic prevention program in his first term because Barack Obama had created it.
âAmerica firstâ sends its regards. Trump voters, please learn your lesson. And if you donât, itâll be taught to you again with yet another diarrhea outbreak.
I live a very balanced life of noticing things nobody else does and not noticing the things that literally everybody notices

[vd: A snow leopard kitten absolutely DESTROYING pumpkins, most already conveniently hollowed and with holes pre-cut so it can shove its whole baby head in and maul and kick and maul and kick and-- End vd.]
Yep, that's a cat!
Do you think tumblr will ever learn the difference between âIâm defending this person because I agree with them wholeheartedly and I am also like this personâ and âIâm defending this person because your behavior is dangerous and you need to stopâ
IMO, blurring the lines between âIâm defending them because theyâre rightâ and âIâm defending them because youâre taking this too farâ is step numero uno to cutting down the very existence of fair trial and democracyâeven in places where saying that might seem a little dramatic.Â
Mob mentality is extremely strong in humans and itâs also extremely dangerous. Mobs donât think things through. Mobs kill and they destroy and they canât be reasoned with. Someone trying to calm a mob down isnât someone defending the ~problematic party~ Itâs time we re-learn that.
