Youâve heard one perspective in your ear for years, probably from someone who sounded pretty damn smart. Who spoke with passion and conviction.
Someone who may well have actually been alive during Jim Crowe laws, who remembers actual oppression.
And who, incidentally, is unfortunately full of nonsense.
But hell, you didnât know that. It was probably the only perspective you were allowed to listen to. And by the time youâd heard opposing perspectives, the cement had already hardened and you were set in your ways and unwilling to change.
âReverse racismâ is a mythical term used under the false pretense that Caucasians are the only ones capable of racism.
I hate to shatter your mind so, but the truth is that every ethnicity has saints and sinners in equal measure.
Youâre absolutely correct. Reverse racism doesnât exist. But racism does. And it is exhibited by black people, white people, asian people and hispanic people. But⌠and hereâs the shocker⌠acceptance and tolerance is exhibited by all of the very same.
⌠that is what MLK stood for, maâam.
A message of unity. Healing. Peace.
A message that cost him his life, because someone like you, only more violent, could not accept unity.
I might be pissing you off with these words.
Good. Making you angry will provoke you to ponder. Make you think. Make you take a second look at these things.
I can take being pissed off at if it helps dig you out of a rut and see the world from a different perspective.
That is why I cast my head in reverence for MLK. He is a titan taken too soon.
