Hey so not to be dramatic but has anyone else come back to this site and rediscovered the joys the internet has? Like, I've been active recently but today because of the reddit protests, I couldn't do my mindless scrolling there. Because of that, today I've been really digging in here and there's so much??? stuff??? and it's all beautiful and funny!
Anything I've seen before feels nostalgic instead of bots reposting for internet points, and whenever I finish the stuff on my dash I just find a new blog and suddenly I'm in a whole new world! I've had this blog since August of 2014, and over those 9 years I've forgotten that the internet can be good!
So thank you all for keeping the old internet alive and well in places like this hellsite, and here's to watching it lap other social media platforms by doing absolutely nothing
This has been like first time I opened Tumblr in almost 5 years... and aside from a few features that have been added (namely the incessant advertising) it doesn't feel like it has changed a day.
Obviously, someone needs a copy, of ANY old Dictionary, because the word "TRUTH", is there.
I need help with a dumb D&D idea
I have decided to have a restaurant in one of my towns be called Souprise. It is run by the brother of a Dwarven artificer who can't seem to get her magical items to work quite the way she wants. In this instance, she made an alchemy jug (Item that can produce up to 3 gallons of any liquid) that for some reason only makes different kinds of soup, and the kind of soup it produces at any given moment is random. So in order to make this work, I want to have a list of 100 different dishes that could be classified as a soup, though 20 would suffice. Please help.
The Fellowship gets on the topic of their ages one night and Boromir comes to the dawning realization that he has absolutely no idea how old any of his companions are supposed to be at all
Boromir, pointing at the hobbits: I donât know how your ages work
Boromir, pointing at Legolas and Gimli:Â I definitely donât know how either of your ages work
Boromir, pointing at Aragorn: I thought I knew how your age worked but apparently I was wrong
Boromir, pointing at Gandalf: I especially donât know how your age works
Gandalf: It doesnât, but carry on
Listen I will die on this hill. I donât care what it says in the assorted apocrypha, if you go by the Actual Text of LOTR you can make a very good argument that Boromir is the youngest member of the group.Â
The hobbits are the only ones given official ages in the text, and are between fifty or fifty-one and twenty-nine. Elves and dwarves notoriously age slowly, and Gimli is the offspring of one of Bilboâs pals, so okay, weâve established that heâs old enough to call the hobbits young, and Bilbo confirms for them that Aragorn is Pretty Old For A Bigjobs. Gandalf is, of course, eternal.
But we are never given any context for Boromir and Faramirâs ages, except that a) they are humans and, though Sons of Gondor, not much longer lived than most Bigjobs, and b) Faramir is A QuiteYoung Man. I was absolutely convinced, when I read the books as a youngun, that Boromir, being in âthe flower of manhoodâ iirc, was probably between 25 and 30.
And it would be Freaking Hilarious, okay, for Boromir to finally get around to actually asking how old this baby-faced hobbit carrying The Ring is, and get told âoh, heâs only fifty, but heâs very steady for his age.â
Boromir: ?!?!?!
And then Pippin and Merry start asking everyone how old they are because this is fascinating are we all official adults here except for Pippin or what.
Boromir: âŚ. Pippin isnât an adult HOW OLD IS PIPPIN.
Pippin is just 29, which is why everyone calls him Pippin, itâs gonna be at least another 20 years before he can make Peregrine work. Why, how old is Boromir?
Boromir, who would rather DIE than admit to being 28 right at this moment: âŚ. 43.Â
All the others, weighing up his apparent age compared to theirs: Sure, sounds legit.Â
Gandalf, who knows for certain, does not say anything because he is absolutely certain that telling Pippin that heâs older than Boromir will be an unmitigated disaster.Â
BOROMIR is the BABY???????!!!!!!!
Love the take that Boromirâs canon age is just him being a fucking liar.

So someone pointed out to me recently that in a few years, maybe a few decades, the history of the us during covid is probably going to get twisted. The fact that we all had to make and wear cloth masks is going to be hailed as a symbol of how we â"came together as a nationâââ or whatever the fuck propaganda spin they try to put on it.
So I just want to say, for the record, the time of the corona virus pandemic was not a time when america came together.
This was a time when people hoarded toilet paper and sanitizing supplies either for themselves or to sell at absurd prices to the desperate people who didnât get to the store soon enough during the shortages
This was a time when scared parents were sending their kids to finish school in the spring in plastic trash bags because they couldnât think of any other way to possibly keep their families safe
This was a time when grocery store and retail and service workers were forced to keep working whether they wanted to risk their health or not because they couldnât make rent otherwise and the people with enough privilege to have remote jobs tried to repay them with applause instead of fair wages
This was a time when nurses had the hold the hands of multiple dying people every day as their families watched their loved ones die over a video call because the hospital couldnât risk having visitors
This was a time when city governments had to handle so many eviction hearings that they rented out convention centers and called in the national guard instead of doing a rent freeze to stop predatory landlords
This was a time when racism and police brutality were so unbearably horrible that people protested in the streets for months even though there was a god damn pandemic that our federal government wasnât doing shit to stop and the cops were so mad that they were being asked to stop beating up black people that they were beating up everyone
This was a time when schools being forced to reopen in the fall or lose their federal funding had to draft templates for letters if a teacher or a staff person or a fucking child died from exposure to corona at school
This was a time when the president of the United states demanded that the cdc stop releasing data about all the people who were dying because of the warnings he ignored for months were making him look bad
This was a time when some state governments didnât mandate masks and forced businesses to reopen because they didnât want to pay unemployment to people trying to stay safe at home anymore
This was a time when Jeff Bezos was on track to be a fucking trillionare because everyone was ordering things on amazon instead of going to the store and the people he worked to death to get it didnât see a single cent of it
This was a time when instead of providing homeless people with housing, we painted boxes on the ground to show homeless people how far away the had to be on the street to maintain social distancing
We did not come together to make cloth masks. Cloth masks represent nothing less than the absolute and utter failure of a nationâs government to inform and protect its citizens
This was not a time when we came together. This was a time when we survived, and not all of us made it.
This was a time when people casually talked about how many human lives the economy was worth without considering the evil that had just come out of their mouths.
This was a time when thousands of us died for profit and the ego of a cheating narcissists con man who scammed his way into the white house
This was a time that we survived. Most of us tried to do the right thing, stay home, limit trips to the store and socializing, wear a mask. And still, so many of us were lost. Thousands every day.
But that wasnât a good enough reason for some people, for those among us who were too selfish to recognize the responsibilities we have toward one another as human beings.
This was not a time that we came together
This was a time that we survived
Not all of us made it
And those of us who did survive will never forget the evil we saw daily in our politicians and those around us
Iâm glad ppl on tiktok are doing ok
good lord
YEAH I GOT NOTHING
i donât understand a single sentence in this and iâm ok with that
I havenât stopped saying âitâs called quantum jumping, babeâ
I would genuinely like to know who to blame for making these children so disconnected from the concept of imagination that they think the simpler explanation for what theyâre doing is that theyâre projecting their consciousness into one of infinite realities where fictional characters are real.
I saw a tiktok that read out the "Every odd number has an "e" in it" post, and it reminded me of the incoherent humor that I missed on Tumblr, and I open the app to find this. This hellscape doesn't change and I love it.
just throw them away then! why is people hoarding stuff that no one wants better. it all has to go somewhere when you die anyway
Wow itâs almost like the problem is our entire commercial fast fashion industry and not Marie Kondo.
Okay so I looked up the article and apparently the problem here is that they canât sell most of the stuff they get (and thus they send it to the dump) and Iâm like⌠why not just give it to poor people for free then. I doubt a homeless person is gonna care if their extra layer has a button or is in style or not. Or turn them into scrap to sell at a fabric store, or something. There are so many other solutions⌠this isnât a problem with Marie Kondo and the people making donations, thereâs one with charities being capitalistic first and wanting to help second.Â
I just re-downloaded this hell app after at least a year of not being on it because I had a fucked up thought and didn't know where else to put it, so here you go.

Fleshlights. Sex toys designed for people with dicks to pleasure themselves, but shaped similarly to a flashlight.
Why not have them BE flashlights? Have one end be the original product, the other end have a LED panel behind some clear acrylic, with a rechargeable battery behind it.
The best part, where we put the button to turn on the light part. Help women everywhere by turning the fake-clit on the outside of the toy into the button that turns it on (pun fully intended).
Yâall I am cackling
Hold on, I'm not American I gotta search this...
OK this is freaking hilarious

UNDERRATED TAG
So, I have been subtly urging my co-workers towards behaviors that would push towards unionizing/striking.
It is going really well. I live/work in a very conservative area in the US. Most of the time if you mention the words strike or union at work you get some pretty negative responses from people.
However, the benefit of these people also not being highly educated individuals, is that it is very easy to simply rephrase the ideas to where it doesn't scare them as much.
For example, where I work, we are divided into production lines, with each line having 2-4 crews of 3-5 people depending on the line. I posed the question to the crew I am on as a harmless "what if" statement. "What if we all (our crew) agreed to just start taking hour lunches instead of half hour lunches? How long do you think it would take them to notice (they don't make us clock out for breaks)? What do you think they would do once they found out?"
The response, from people who are generally afraid to even mention going on strike for fear of their jobs (the propaganda machine is strong here), was pretty positive. One person responded directly with "Slap us on the wrist and say no?"
Once I get full support from my crew, I will let you guys know how this little experiment turns out.

Capitalism didnât give Americans cars and smartphones though. The people in most of those cars are probably still paying off their loans, and their phones are likely on contract. Capitalism just lends Americans money, so it can make more money when they pay it back. And they donât complain because they get to enjoy the illusion of prosperity and drive a car they donât really own, while paying other people for fuel and insurance.
Itâs all smoke and mirrors. The only real part is the smoke.
capitalism didn't give me a phone. it forced me to buy one if I wanted to do literally anything. homework, school, jobs, interviews, family, friends, relationships, banking, taxes, insurance, medical stuff, etc. I need a phone to do any of those things. and it's pretty much the same deal with a car.
capitalism doesn't give you things. it doesn't create things. it makes certain expensive things necessary for survival in modern society. and if you can't afford those things, then you're just fucked.
