3. what's the best job you've ever had?
right now, hands down. but before i tell you why, lets rehash my jobs until now, it won't take long:
worst one by a country mile (whatever that means): ta to a cranky german literature professor at university. constantly working unpaid overtime, cranky boss, the printer from hell, students. nope.
unskilled worker at a supermarket: pros: my chaotic late shift team <3 customers bringing me cake, weirdly enough dealing with children. cons: unpaid overtime, boss was less good at organisation than i am, early shift team, anxiety dreams of the conveyor belt, anxiety through the roof for 5 years. yay.
now: i'm an occupational therapists and i work in geriatrics at a hospital. my patients stay for two weeks in the hospital, they get physio and occupational therapy, they hopefully get to return home at the end. or they go to other care facilities. i love my patients, i love my coworkers, i make okay money, i feel like i actually do something meaningful.
5. what's your favourite piece of furniture and where did you get it?
no pictures, but after my grandma died i inherited: a corner cabinet, real oak, with a glass case and little wood flourishes; a hexagonal tile table you can extend; and all her porcelain. and when my mum's best friend died i inherited his couch (it's not actually all that comfortable, and it's small but it's beautiful, with a very lovely textile design, real oak legs)
14. what's a hobby you'd like to get into?
due to various mental illnesses and working full time i'm also at max capacity for hobbies, but theoretically i'd love to do line dancing again. and i always feel like i should hike more. i definitely should garden more. also fibre crafts look so cool and fun, and theoretically i know how to knit (but really, i don't. everything more than two needles confuses me and i can't read the instructions, but i can do an okay scarf), but i never do that...
23. what's the coolest place you've visited?
that's hard. i saw the alhambra, i've been to stonehenge, i was white water rafting in the US, i stared in wonder at sequoia trees in california, i visited so many museums in vienna, in rome i took an illegal picture of the Sistine Chapel ceiling... like. california is really something. all that sky. yosemite. the pacific ocean. calavera big trees. but then there's also england. ahhhh, everywhere is really cool. but have you ever been to the cologne cathedral, went all the way to the top, on a clear day and saw the siebengebirge? it's also pretty okay.
30. what's your living arrangement? (who do you live with, in what kind of building, do you own or rent or other?)
i live alone, in my grandparents' house, in a granny flat, ironically enough. my grandparents are dead, the rest of the house is rented out to two polish guys. i pay family rent, because my dad and my uncle are my landlords. i live on the ground floor and i have a nice big garden, nearly all of it on a slope.
