War Linearity? Dalek History!
As always constructive feedback is welcome.
One of the major problems of the .T.S.W.i.H./.T.S.G.T.W., (especially from a canonwelding perspective) is the difficulty in figuring out it's placement. It's nature as a temporal conflict makes a simple objective timeline almost impossible, (eg: The logical starting point of the first Timelords involved battle supposedly occurs in the 155th century while other conflict related/relevant events happen before and after this in history). However there were two known linear perspectives as explained in The Book of the War's, "Dating War era events (Difficulties)" entry: Gallifreyan Relative Time, (.G.R.T.) and War Relative Time, (.W.R.T.) with the later being the closet we have to an objective classification.
The same is true of .T.T&L.G.T.W. and although the same terminology is not used the following three statements give us some idea:
"the Daleks vanished from time and space, even though they were the, 'greatest threat in the universe', thus ending the Tenth Dalek Occupation. The Doctor would later state that the Daleks had, 'gone off to fight a bigger war' that being the Time War", The Parting of the Ways.
"In a linear sense, it lasted for at least 400 years. Fought throughout countless time periods and even alternate timelines, however, it more accurately lasted an eternity as both sides fought across space and time, opening up new fronts as the Daleks seeded themselves in different epochs", Engine of War.
From these we can construct the following sentence: "In a linear sense the conflict lasted at least 400 years after The Tenth Dalek Occupation, (whether this is in objective relative time or the conflict's relative time is not stated or clear) however it more accurately lasted an eternity as both sides fought across space and time".
Can a similiar sentence be constructed for .T.S.W.i.H./.T.S.G.T.W.?
"'This is what half a millenium of warfare can do to a race', Justine decided. And no one deserved it more then the Timelords'", .E.D.A. Alien Bodies.
"Their leader admits that they have come back to prevent a crucial event in universal history: Last Contact. This was the moment when the Enemy were invoked, and the war started", "It isn't the Doctor's father on the end of the line. It is the Enemy. The Doctor has just told the Enemy where Dalek Space Command is. The Klade realise that he has just established Last Contact. The Doctor's actions mean that the future is now set", .E.D.A. Enemy of the Daleks pitch summary.
From these we can construct the following sentence: "In terms of War Relative Time the conflict lasted at least 500 years after Last Contact, (whether this is in objective relative time or the conflict's relative time is not stated or clear) however it more accurately lasted an eternity as both sides fought across space and time".
(It might be possible to canonweld a slightly modified version of, "Enemy of the Daleks" into Big Finish's 2190 Dalek invasion of Earth as both feature Dalek's using a plague and mining in several .U.S. sites).
Another jigsaw piece from the first edition of the, "Crimes Against History" timeline is that the Etra Prime Incident, (.B.F. No.11, "The Apocalypse Element") occured 146 years .B.T.W., (-146.W.R.T., 5256, Matrix Date: 6796.8) which would mean that the Second Dalek Occupation 5425 to 5441, (.B.F. Dalek Empire I and 2) would be within the conflict's linear timescale from multiple Gallifreys's perspective, (.W.R.T. and .G.R.T.) so their non interference in events despite their size and the utilisation of parallel universe/cross dimensional travel is due to their focus on .T.S.W.i.H./.T.S.G.T.W. and The Act of Master Restitution treaty. (The Enemy Reps wiping out the Dalek's entire offensive capability immediately following Last Contact might explain why they signed and abided by the treaty and thought they'd need to recreate a whole galaxy for resources/need extra dimensional help instead of arrogantly thinking they could manage with what they had as usual).
