Well, even as kids, since feeling function is likely undeveloped/unconscious, Thinker kids often had to deal with being manipulated through feelings and not knowing whether they were the ones being manipulated or whether they were being manipulative when dealing with say, a Feeler accusing the Thinker of gaslighting them or being cruel. So they often find themselves in a double-bind when it comes to human relationships from a very young age.
I actually do find many F (both FJ and FP) types being very self-centered/selfish with their needs oftentimes, constantly forcing others to think for them, and validate them as being intelligent, while T types rarely do this because of the fear of group rejection. As a result, T types will oftentimes seek indirect validation, usually by helping others and hoping they receive recognition in turn. So if you give the T types the recognition they secretly desire, you will be able to manipulate a lot of them to do what you want them to do.
I wouldnât recommend this, however, because as it is a sensitive point in the psyche, once the T type figures out what youâve done, they will go to hell and back to destroy you and feel fully justified to do so because theyâve gone to hell and back to help you, to their detriment, which they knew from the beginning would be detrimental to them. They ate the cost to help you because they liked being recognized, so if you take that and screw them over, you can be sure theyâll do the same. Thinkers in this mode donât care about you as a person because they had to overextend their feeling function in the first place and have nothing left over to consider your âfault as human.â
The black and white approach that thinkers employ in the realm of Fe and Fi can make them dangerous if they feel slighted âafter sacrificing.â These Thinkers will destroy your relationships and do so without looking back. And because they were the ones âin detriment,â they will leave and feel much happier without you.
Just... be kind. You donât want Thinkers on an anger rampage. Just as they are willing to act in self-detriment to help you, they are just as willing to act in self-detriment to destroy you, and there will be no mercy.
In reverse, Thinkers... do not overextend for anyone unless you personally have decided to eat the cost and to not expect anything back later. If you canât make that choice, DONâT DO IT. Just say youâre dealing with too much at this time and canât help them. Everyone is a grown-up (unless theyâre not), and they can handle themselves; if not, it is not our responsibility as Thinkers to do this for them.
Every person is an individual living oneâs own life. Life is no easier for a Feeler than it is for a Thinker, and reversely, no more difficult for a Feeler than it is for a Thinker. If at any point, youâre tired from worrying about problems of other people, stop and ask yourself whether this really is YOUR problem to solve, or THEIRS. Most of the time, it is theirs.
