It's so easy to forget this is true sometimes. The same way people often think good, positive things about us and we'll never know because they don't express it vocally. We get so used to hate speech and judgement in our daily lives, we often forget that the inside of people's heads doesn't have to be a bad place. It can be a place of kindness and thoughtfulness and decency. We just expect the worst because we have been taught that way, and we forget there is another.

by far the best part of grocery shopping is the little babies. i was carefully selecting mushrooms when i felt upon me a piercing gaze and looked up to see a very chubby and very red-cheeked baby staring intently at me from a grocery cart with a slightly furrowed brow, hand clutching an apple for dear life. i wiggled a mushroom at her and she gasped and kept staring. i turned back to the mushrooms and heard a shriek. i turned around and the baby stared in anticipation. i wiggled another mushroom and she shrieked again in delight. she looked down at the apple in her hand, considering it for a moment. fair-minded as she was, she decided it would only be right to wiggle produce at me in return, and she held up the apple and shook it with all her might. i think i could live forever now

we used to get prescribed a summer on the seaside. now we just get told to go touch grass. the economy is in shambles

My personal addition to this: sometimes you gotta do “get your shit together” self care to get to fluffy uwu self care. When I get in a bad mental health spot, I do nothing. I sit in bed with my thoughts being pulled every direction at once and lay there all day. Sometimes the self care I need is telling myself to get the fuck up, stop being intentionally miserable, and do something I know I’ll enjoy.

my partner doesn’t use pet names nearly as much as i do, which is very funny because i will crack my gay little knuckles and say some shit like “good morning my sun and moon, my loveliest boy, my baby my sweetheart my darling dearest” and he will reply “hello adrian”
