Today I present to you... Lady Anne's 1740s Dress! This is inspired by English mantua gowns from that era.

You may have to use 'cas.fulleditmode on' to edit bigger boobas. I have all morphs so, fat and muscle sliders maxed out work just fine, but certain boob shapes just... don't work super well if they're on the larger side. It's not TOO bad, but I wanted to make sure folks were aware of this.
CREDITS:
Skirt and bodice from Sifix's Desdemona dress, sleeves from Sifix's Maria dress.
Palette is based off my Georgian/Federal palette.
Patterns are chinoiserie & block-printed indienne, many of which were patterns you might've found on dresses at the time.
Textures were from Sifix's dresses, some also painted by me; patterns were from Pinterest/wallpaper & fabric reproduction sites.
I DID include some colors/patterns that uhhhh may not be historically accurate, but if I wanted 100% historical accuracy, I wouldn't be playing Sims.
Usual TOU applies! Do whatever, include the mesh, just KEEP IT FREE, and GIVE ME CREDIT.
So, I had big plans for a set. But it was quite some time ago, and I finished only these three items, and everything else is now at the stage where I open the .blend file and think, "what the hell is going on here?" So I hope I will finish whatever there is to finish, or redo, or do something else… one day. But at the moment here is my version of a 1700s nightshirt and an untucked shirt for your pixel guys. For historical inaccuracy I'll blame all the "Getting Dressed in the 18th Century" videos on YouTube. Just joking - it's all me.
These are basically two items - the shirt comes as a fullbody outfit and as a top in the "blouse" category. Just because I planned it as a fullbody first, but then I thought that it's supposed to be not quite a night garment as it is, but more like something someone wears when they fall asleep half undressed. So it should be a top in the first place. So I decided to do two versions. But I do not like that I had to resize the diffuse map to fit it into the "top" section of a sim texture. Anyway, have fun.
Known problems: With some animations the legs can go through the bottom part of the shirt. This happens because the legs mesh is underneath the shirt mesh, and sometimes it just… happens.
So, this one is inspired (heavily, I tried my best to replicate the main details) by Lucille Sharpe's black velvet dress from Crimson Peak. Due to the skirt shape with a lot of sculptural elements, it sometimes morphs a little weirdly, but nothing too unnatural for TS4 meshes.
Known problems:
the decorative mesh with tassels on the right side clips with the dress (you can see it better on the blue dress in the preview). I cannot fix it because I do not understand the reason. To me, weight, uv_1, and vertex colors look fine, but still the problem occurs.
on bigger sims skirt goes through the tabletop. A little but still.
That's it. Mind the polycount. I do not like these numbers, but it is what it is for the amount of decorative elements this dress has.

Lately, I have found myself interested in the 1930s, so here is a nightgown that is a pastiche of different ones I have come across during my "research" ❤
The difficulty with simple garments is rarely the mesh -- even if that also took me a while -- but the texture. I try my best to add every detail I can find from extant garments, which can be a bit time-consuming to figure out the best and most visually pleasing application.

Amongst life changes and bigger projects, I've been feeling a bit exhausted lately. I haven't been in my usual zone, which is why this post is a bit later than my usual schedule. Apologies! I know this took way longer than it should have. This is, after all, only a hobby of mine, so it takes a side step sometimes. To keep posting fun for me, and not feel like it's a chore, I think I will start adopting a looser structure again, but we will have to see.
Kids' version of one of these victorian nightgowns. Mostly in different shades of warm white and cold white, but I also added a couple of dark colors. Not sure if they make sense with the idea of a “victorian nightgown,” but they looked nice. And I'm also dead inside, so it kind of fit my mood. Anyhow, have fun.

On my continuous journey to bridge gaps in historical Sims 4 cc, I have dedicated much of it to lingerie, which I love making! So to keep expanding the boudoir, here is a silk dressing gown based on an antique.
She had only one dance set aside for her betrothed, and finally it came near to the end of the evening.
Alexander: I do hope my father didn’t scare you earlier. You looked rather grim when he left you.
Carolina: I was feeling a little overwrought is all. He only wanted to offer his own fatherly advice but this night is wearing on me.
Alexander: Do you wish to sit a while? We need not dance if you’re feeling tired.
Carolina: No, I can still dance one more at least. For you.
Alexander: Then how lucky am I to share your final dance of the evening.
Alexander: What sage advice did my father have to share?
Carolina: Only a reminder that you will be my new family once we are married. A day will come when you will be my only equal at court and I should remember such things when considering all other relationships.
Alexander: Rather a severe topic for dancing I should think.
Carolina: Well, forgive me, but he strikes me as rather a severe man.
Alexander: True. Father can be rather ferocious where family is concerned.
Carolina: It’s an admirable trait, but his concern is misdirected. He has no reason to be worried about mine or my family’s allegiances in this arrangement.
Alexander: Of course not. My father worries though. Too often it seems as though he spends all his time watching for unknown and unseen dangers that may or may not be lurking in the shadows. Rarely is anything truly as dire as he makes it out to be in his mind.
Carolina: I suspected as much. But it is a sovereign’s, and a father’s, duty to be watchmen for his people’s safety.
Alexander: Tiring as my father can be, I cannot fault him for his vigilance. I hope that I can be such a protector for my own family in time.
Carolina: As do I.
Alexander: Has it been very tiring for you?
Carolina: The party? I suppose. I’ll be glad when all this ceremony and pomp is over.
Alexander: What shall you do when it’s over?
Carolina: Whatever I please, I should think. Or whatever we please, I suppose.
Alexander: What do you wish to do then when it is all over?
Carolina thought carefully as they danced.
Carolina: I’d like to spend more time in the gardens before the autumn comes.
Alexander: Mm. I’d like to see more of them.
Carolina: What should you like to do?
Alexander: Well, would you like me to read to you by the fountains or out under some fruit tree in the orchards?
Carolina: How about in the rose garden beneath the old stone arches?
Alexander: I look forward to seeing them.
Carolina: What shall we read?
Alexander: Whatever we like. I’m partial to poetry, especially that of the ancients. But if I am reading to you, then you should choose at least the first book.
Carolina: Very well. I will have to consult our library when I return home.
They danced to the end of the song in pleasant silence. The more time she spent with Prince Alexander the more agreeable this arrangement seemed. Of course, she didn’t get a choice in her husband and that was lamentable, but at least her betrothed was pleasant company, even charming. Alexander was a sharp contrast to his father’s severity and his mother’s haughtiness. She wondered if his sister was more like him or his parents. How he ended up so gracious and kind in the wake of his parents’ personalities, she couldn’t make sense of. She really was growing to like him quite well.
Alexander: May I speak to you, princess?
Carolina: We are speaking.
Alexander: Alone. Please.
Carolina: Now?
Alexander: If you will.
He led her from the ballroom as all others began to say their goodbyes and trickle out to find their carriages. Out in the little garden, they were entirely alone.
Carolina: We could have spoken inside, you know.
Alexander: I do, but I also know you enjoy the gardens here. It would be a shame not to enjoy them on a night like tonight.
Carolina: But why do you wish to speak here?

Alexander: Because I have been trying to think of how to tell you that the last weeks that I have spent here with you have been so very pleasant. I have enjoyed every moment that we have shared and I feel immensely fortunate to be here.
Carolina: Oh.
Alexander: And–
Alexander: And I hope with all my heart that you have enjoyed my company as much as I have enjoyed yours.
Carolina: I have. You must know that I have.
Alexander: You’ve no idea how much of a relief that is to hear. And a joy. I meant what I said when I wished for you to be my friend if you cannot be my lover.
Carolina: I know and it’s my hope as well.
Alexander: May I ask then, if I might dare to hope you might care for me? As your friend?
Carolina: You are my friend. You are the only one who understands what it’s like to live in this gilded cage, to have one’s future decided for you.
Alexander: True, but that hardly makes us kindred spirits.
Carolina: Doesn’t it though? How many others know what it’s like to live this way?
Alexander: It’s more than that. Any child of a noble house could have an arranged marriage, but… with you, I feel as though we understand each other more than most. We understand duty and the privilege that we have, despite the sacrifice that it requires. We share things, Carolina, and so quickly you have become so very dear to me.
Carolina: Oh.
Alexander: I feel as though I’ve known you much longer than I’ve been here at Bagley Court. Would I– I–
Carolina: What is it?
Alexander: Do I have any hope? Dare I to hope for a partnership like our parents’?
Carolina: I don’t know what to say. I hope– I do– I hope for such a thing as well. I’d like to have such a partnership– with you– if I can.
Alexander: Carolina–
Carolina: Yes?
Alexander: I know it would not be proper or right at this time to– to ask you but– May I– Would you allow me to–?
Carolina: Yes, you may.
For a moment, she simply enjoyed such tenderness as he offered, but the sensible part of her that had been trained not to accept such advances kicked back in. She thought to pull herself away, she was not yet married to this man, but then again, she would be soon enough. Two weeks is nothing compared with the lifetime they were about to embark on. What difference would a kiss make?
Carolina: Something tells me we shouldn’t have done that.
Alexander: And yet– here we are. What harm could a kiss do, especially between those who are very nearly married.
Carolina: But we are not married.
Alexander: But we will be and I am looking forward to it now more than I ever have before.
Inspired by Georgian and Palladian architecture — elegant, sturdy, and slightly simpler than the manor house, yet still grand in presence. This first release focuses on doors and archways, which can be customized with separate door wings, matching windows, stone surrounds, and a small round window.
The doors are detailed with heavy metal hardware and horse-shaped handles, and come in 3-tile, 2-tile, and single-tile versions. To round things off, there’s a functional frieze, foot trim, and a series of climbing rose bushes to bring your stable walls to life. 🌿

King Mortimer: My dear princess.
Carolina: Your Majesty.
Carolina: Have you enjoyed your time in Henford, Your Majesty?
King Mortimer: Very much. It’s a pleasure to spend time somewhere so beautiful. Your family too have been so very accommodating.
Carolina: We do not always have the pleasure of entertaining kings, so that is gratifying to hear.
King Mortimer: I feel much better sending my son off into marriage now that I’ve seen his new home for myself, though I still have some reservation.
Carolina: Oh? What sort of reservations? We Finchwicks are people of our word, my lord. Whatever my father has promised you, it will be done. You need not doubt it.
King Mortimer: It’s not your father that gives me pause. It’s who he chooses to surround himself with.
Carolina: If you have an issue with one of our courtiers, I would prefer you to name them, my lord.
King Mortimer: It’s not just any of your father’s courtiers, princess.
Carolina: I pray you do not keep me in suspense, Your Majesty.
King Mortimer: Sir George Groves. I’ve noticed his presence in the palace is constant. The only time he is not at your father’s side is when he is at yours.
Carolina: What issue could you have with Sir George? He is my father’s most loyal servant and he is indebted to our family. I’ve never known a better man.
King Mortimer: His attachment to you is what concerns me.
Carolina: To me?
King Mortimer: He seems to be fixated on you whenever you are near.
Carolina: He is concerned for my well being. Nothing more, Your Majesty.
King Mortimer: I think he may be concerned with more than your well being, or at least he is more concerned than he ought to be for a woman who is neither his wife nor blood relative.
Carolina: You would fault a chevalier for his devotion to his sovereign?
King Mortimer: I would fault a chevalier for lusting after his master’s daughter.
Carolina: Lust? How could you say such a thing?
King Mortimer: I say it because it is true. Plain as day to anyone with any clarity. You are young, my dear. You know little of men and how they think and behave. If such a man looked at my daughter the way that this man looks at you, he would be dismissed and banished from court until the end of his days. Men who cannot control themselves enough to conceal such desires are dangerous, nearly as dangerous as men who can conceal such things.
Carolina: Then a man is damned if he shows such feelings and damned if he keeps such ideas to himself?
King Mortimer: Only if they cause issue.
Carolina: A person cannot help their feelings, Your Majesty. They simply spring forth in oneself.
King Mortimer: Yes, but it is up to each of us to control them. Groves ought to reject them and distance himself, and yet he remains close to you at all opportunities and that makes him dangerous.
Carolina: Sir George is my father’s closest friend and advisor. I saved his life not more than two years ago. He is no danger to me.
King Mortimer: Perhaps so, and perhaps not. But you should be wary of men like him. He may be able to control himself but if he can’t, he cannot be counted upon to truly serve your best interests without seeking his own first.
Carolina: I appreciate your concern, Your Majesty, but I’m sure you are mistaken about the man. He has known me all my life and I have never had reason to doubt his resolve and devotion or to suspect anything unsavory.
King Mortimer: I hope for your sake and that of your kingdom, that you are right. A great deal will depend upon Groves’s ability to comport himself appropriately.
Carolina: He wouldn’t take any action that was not necessary or right, Your Majesty. I would stake my life on it.
King Mortimer: I’m sure. You do understand that I say all that I do because of my affection for my son and my hopes for our shared future.
Carolina: Yes, Your Majesty.
King Mortimer: Just remember, my dear, Alexander is your husband and as such, he is the only one who might be your equal in this court. Everyone else, barring your own parents, is beneath you. Let this govern your relationships and all else will fall into place.
Carolina: I thank you, Your Majesty, for all your advice.
King Mortimer: Do keep up a smile, princess. It is a party.
