Relistening to Platform Decay and what's hitting me hardest is all the small kindnesses the civilian humans extend our main characters. They treat the old woman on the mobility device with deference and care. They make sure that any children caught in a dangerous situation get the best cover. They squeeze in together so more strangers can get to safety. This is normal human behavior, but it's been so rare to see. I'm glad Muderbot is noticing it.

I'm just saying, if you're going to worldbuild magic being a "raw, primal force, akin to and interweaving with nature itself" you gotta explain to me why animals don't use it
