It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!

the average human lifespan globally is 70+ years

at the age of 30 you have lived less than one quarter of your adult life (12/52 years)

'middle age' is typically considered to be between 45-65

it is extremely common to switch careers, start new relationships, emigrate, go to college for the first or second time, or make other life-changing decisions in middle age

it's wild that I even have to spell it out, but older adults (60+) still have social lives and hobbies and interests.

you can still date when you get old. you can still fuck. you can still learn new skills, be fashionable, be competitive. you can still gossip, you can still travel, you can still read. you can still transition. you can still come out.

young doesn't mean peaked. you're inexperienced in your 20s! you're still learning and practicing! you're developing social skills and muscle memory that will last decades!

there are a million things to do in the world, and they don't vanish overnight because an imaginary number gets too big

stop assuming the worst most bad faith negative interpretations of everyone else's intentions and you will find yourself so much more at ease in life

#i actively do the opposite to the point that it annoys people #i almost nevet let anyone i talk to say something negative or assume bad intenions/have bad faith interpretations of someone else without #offering at least one counterpoint or thinking of a reason for whatever caused the person I'm speaking with to do what i mentioned in the #earlier tag #i find it immensely helpful to not only behave as i do in conversations as well as in my own head because while it happens for me #automatically nowadays; it didn't always. i had to train myself to change the way my brain works: I used to be incredibly pessimistic #always assuming the worst case scenario or the worst intention or that that everyone was out to get me and that the world sucked and life #sucked. and i also used to be incredibly depressed all the time and actively wanting to end things. and i don't remember why but i remember #one day thinking that my pessimistic mindset wasn't serving me. assuming the worst was only making me worse because while i assumed the #worst because in my head if you did then you could never be disappointed but only relieved; that potential relief didn't outweigh the #negative effect had the rest of the time. so i worked on changing it and doing it in conversations really helped cement it faster in my #brain than i think it otherwise would have. i love thinking the way i do now. sometimes people think I'm a naive idiot for it but i love #assuming the best in people. i love how much more free i am now than i was before. much more content than back then. highly recommend!
