Eve Reki AU
Aka Sk8 but Reki catches Adam’s eye instead of Langa
Oh man I just saw someone pull up the side by side comparisons of Cherry full on laughing as a teen and then the first time we see that again as an adult when he’s gotten away from Adam.
And I’m just thinking of that with Reki in this Au. Reki who was so full of light and joy before Adam crossed his path and the first time he’s friends see that light in his eyes after they’ve become so dull.
Them all seeing Reki laughing and having fun skating again after getting him away from Adam 🥹
Stings a little more when you realise how similar Cherry and Reki purposely are made by the developers, doesn't it?
That becoming Adam's Eve was something Kaoru aspired to do, but would never quite reach that level.
So much more painful and then in this AU Kaoru has to watch Reki go through the same thing he did and finally realises oh this was bad…
God this AU is evil I love it

Like a month ago I messaged a craft group about accessibility for wheelchairs and the answer I got was “there’s a lot of stairs but we have cute boys who can carry you”. And it’s…not good. As a wheelchair bound person I largely depend on people when I want to go out and do *anything* so I’m used to it, I laugh it off, make an annoyed post about it and off I go. But I wanna just say a thing real quick.
Even if I wasn’t gay, wasn’t a survivor scared of men, getting help as a disabled person is just…Not a pleasant thing to us! Imagine for a sec how you’d feel being carried up a flight of stairs. You’re a grown person. You’re being touched in an awkward way. You’d rather do it yourself. You’re So Uncomfortable. It’s not where I look for the beginning of a romantic relationship. So like…could abled people stop doing this thing where they think helping us in a condescending and infantilizing way is cute? Cause I’m real tired. Just get me a ramp or lift and I’m cool. I don’t need a dating service when I’m just trying to go about my day

Probably preaching to the choir here, but while being carried is 100% embarrassing and infantalizing and not anywhere cloae to a real replacement for actual accessibility features, it’s also dangerous. A lot of people in wheelchairs, especially the non-ambulatory users, have conditions that could lead to injury or death if carried by someone who isn’t a firefighter, and even a firefighter would run the risk of hurting them.
So not only are you humiliating a disabled person by refusing to provide accessible spaces, you’re also suggesting that they put themselves at the mercy of someone who does not understand their condition and needs and likely who also hasn’t had any training in helping disabled people this way.
There’s a reason EMTs transport people on stretchers, and these are people trained to transport injured and disabled people safely. You’re way less likely to hurt someone if you carry them on a stretcher over your arms. Especially if, again, you’ve never been trained to move people on your own.
Yeah, when I used to work as a disability support worker - i.e., someone who was specifically trained to assist disabled people in various situations around the house and out in the community - we were FORBIDDEN from lifting anyone for *any* reason. we could help SUPPORT people, as in have people lean on or grip us as they moved themselves, like we could offer an arm to someone to help pull themselves upright, but we could not lift them completely up off of the floor. for things like getting out of bed or transferring to/from a chair there were assistive devices for that which we were required to use at all times. it was considered serious mistreatment (in a reportable, legal sense) if we ever attempted to pick someone up.
I may personally not be a wheelchair user (yet), but I also have many many friends who are, and I myself use crutches and can't do stairs well. Behavior like this is honestly awful, and I absolutely second every single post below the OP.
More people need to see this, and realize how real of an issue it is.
fanfic writers who type their works directly onto ao3 instead of copy-and-pasting from elsewhere have no fear. fear fears them.
people...actually write on seperate apps?? that's so extra bro just write it onto ao3 and save as a draft occasionally so as not to lose any writing
respectfully, it’s not “extra” (all you have to do is copy and paste).
ao3 literally advises that people copy-and-paste their works from elsewhere and to NOT write directly onto the site.
because unless and until it’s posted, ao3 does NOT back up works for you. meaning if your screen crashes, if the site glitches, if your wifi stops working, or if you lose power — anything — you risk losing the whole thing you’ve written.
sure, you can technically save drafts on ao3 (up to 30 days, if memory serves me right), but it’s still not something most writers do. most writers copy and paste their own works from elsewhere onto ao3 prior to posting (I say this with respect, this is a common sense).
store your works elsewhere, keep them safe, then copy-and-paste them onto ao3 once they’re ready.
Personally I should start doing this as a sense of motivation.
