Chapter 25 of Empire’s Star

“Empress”

Empress Y/n scoffs and turns her head to the entrance of her throne room, only for a smirk to slowly form at the sight before her. A few meters in front of her stood the 7 people she had trusted the most, with determined expressions on their faces. 

The empress smirks, “my, my, to what do I owe the pleasure of being visited at this hour?”

Being met with silence, the empress raises a brow, “well? Do you have any plans to tell me or are you just going to stand there?”

After a few seconds of silence, the once-loyal advisor, Namjoon, takes a tentative step forward, “your majesty, we have stood back and supported you for years, hoping you would change. But you’ve changed for the worse and we will not stand by and let you bring this empire down with you.”

Y/n smirks and slowly stands, “and what do you plan on doing Namjoon?”

He scowls and brings his sword out, with the 6 men following his actions behind him. Understanding the message long ago, the empress nonchalantly grabs her short sword as well and smirks, “And here I thought we were going to have a pleasant talk. I suppose it was wishful thinking on my part huh?” 

Y/n continues making her way down the steps, “So I’ll be assuming you want me dead? I won’t stop you, you know,” Y/n continues to take confident strides towards the 7 men and smirks as she is now only a few feet away, “just know, I’m not going down without a fight.” In an instant, she swings her sword with precision, which gets blocked by Taehyung, the knight that had pledged his loyalty to her years ago when he was only a knight in training.

The anticipation for what awaits you is agonizing. There is a heaviness in your heart. It is a painful pounding that beats furiously against your breast. It reminds you of everything you have to lose tonight. It reminds you that too much has been left unsaid between you for far too long.

But there is no guarantee that any of it would matter anyway. He is to become a king, after all. What would a king want with a heart as delicate as your own? What use does a king have for a woman like you? A human woman at that. One whose presence could very well mar the crown he will soon wear and everything it stands for.

It does not matter to many that you are no ordinary woman. Your blood is as blue as the ocean is deep but you are a human all the same. How could a werewolf as powerful and revered as Jungkook ever hold his head high with an interloper for a bride? Surely there would be outrage amongst the members of the pack. Golden film filters through waxed lenses, the call of the silver screen itching at the canister draped to your side. Fingers slip along freshly printed scripts, your eyes following the drop of dialogue as it floats through hallowed canals. The acceleration in tempo nudges at your brain, eyes pulling inward at the uneven flow. Your hand falls to scrunched shoulders, Jeongguk glancing up at you for confirmation.

“Cut!” Audible groans follow his edged tone, extras scurrying to first position while you step toward the center, lips pursed. 

“What is it?” You’re addressed, tone clipped, by lead actress Kyung-Soon. Her lengthy hair tosses over sharp shoulders with an icy glare. You wince at the challenge, hours spent couped tensing the assemblage. 

“Your volume was a little uneven and your pace was getting choppy near the middle of your dialogue.” You speak as Jeongguk saunters over, fingers coming to pinch the bridge of his nose, the audible scoff from the center of the floor an unwelcome precursor to unscripted dramatics. “I’m sure you’ll get it if we just take five and run it again.”

“You’ve been saying that for the past hour, I don’t know what you want from me!”

He’d much rather ignore how death seemed to follow him like a curse, in favor of holding onto the people he loved for as long as possible. Even if he knew that one day something would come to separate them. Love is that way; intoxicating, even though you know it’s going to end. 

Min Yoongi loves his whole pack so much that he’d snatch them from the hands of death. He’d burn buildings and salt cities, bring the sky down upon anyone who dared to take them from him even a moment sooner than was fated. A man in love is a dangerous thing, and Min Yoongi was already dangerous before he met his pack. 

He loved them all desperately, even though each one of them had a secret.
