I love that the ATLA franchise just keeps showcasing how airbending is the most terrifying element and that the Air Nomads were not peaceful due to being weaker but due to seeing it as a moral obligation because of how lethal they knew their element could be in the wrong hands. It just continues to prove what Ozai said to Aang in the finale wrong. And it shows us how strong Aang’s heart and mind are, because he could be a monster, he could easily take lives as revenge, but that wasn’t what his people stood for or how Gyatso raised him

Fascinating how what's considered feminine and what's considered masculine can change over time. The rebranding of being a horse girl into being a stereotypical feminine girly trait needs to be studied.

As recently as the 50s and early 60s, being obsessed with horses as a girl was depicted as strange and tomboyish, and the very concept of being obsessed with horses from early childhood and loving toy horses and desperately wanting your own horse being a "little girl thing" and not a "little boy thing" would send someone from the 1800s and earlier into a coma.

Minecraft is possibly the worst tutorialized game ever released

The entire game play requires you to know this it never tells you

Ie: tool progression, there is nothing actually telling you that diamond ore and redstone require an iron pickaxe, you need to figure that out through fucking up or cultural osmosis

Or nether portals prior to the addition of ruined portals having nothing to tell you how to make them

This is all to say that if a data or mod pack does a shit job telling you how to get started, that is actually completely in line with Minecraft's design philosophy

Genuinely, how is someone expected to know that right clicking dirt with a water bottle is how you make mud, a mechanic notably unused in any other blocks

minecraft is pretty much only designed for people who already play minecraft tbh like i get some parts can be designed so fucking up is part of the experience, it's a very open-ended game where you're supposed to learn as you go but mostly it just sucks at tutorialising -- oh and there's the issue that mojang can't decide who they're making the game for, so it has a tendency to be balanced partly towards the technical players you know, the ones whose specialty is finding exploits and complex tech and using them to gain resources and such which is how you end up with a game where getting iron for example is partially balanced around.. building a contraption that uses the specifics of how the game determines what a village is to build a faux-village which continuously spawns iron golems (something you aren't taught how to build either btw), so that you can immediately kill them for the iron they drop instead of like mining for said iron -- anyway also extremely funny that most of the major mods have much better tutorialisation than like, minecraft itself
