I’m sorry, Aang. Maybe somehow, there’s a bright side to all this…

Aang is an independent 12-year-old boy who has already traveled the world alone (thanks to Gyatso, who raised him).

If by "mother him" you mean :

- Showing affection towards him (hugs, kisses on the cheek) = That's her love language. It's her way of showing him her love. She's only like that with him.

- Comforting him = He's a grieving genocide survivor, and she comforts him because she's a good friend. Several times in the series, we see Aang reject her attempts at comforting him, especially during the Appa arc.

Aang, for his part, is grateful for the kindness and attention she gives him and reciprocates.

He's one of her biggest supporters : always encouraging her, complimenting her, respecting her, admiring her, giving her advice, and comforting her. (If the Katara/Aang relationship were truly a mother-son dynamic, the effort put in would have to be one-sided.)

And regarding the kiss, yes, it would have been nice to see a scene where they discussed it. But after Katara gets annoyed with Aang, we see him call himself an idiot, give Katara space, and never make the same mistake again. It's like with TSR when she says the famous line to Sokka; there was no on-screen discussion between them.

(The reason she doesn't want to start a relationship isn't due to a lack of feelings, but because she's confused by the war and doesn't feel ready to start anything right now.)

In the next episode in question, he doesn't argue specifically with Katara, but with the ENTIRE gaang.

We see that she still has faith in Aang.

1. Katara jealous

2. Katara blushing because of him

3. Their dance

4. Katara wanted to kiss him and being upset when he doesn't want

5. Her look

What happens towards the end of the series with Kataang.

Tf you mean? She was genuinely crashing out in the cave when she thought Aang was rejecting her after she suggested they kiss because she was catching feelings and wanted to kiss him and used that scenario they’d found themselves in as an excuse to do so. No one who views someone as only a friend would crash tf out like she did if their friend said “I don’t want to kiss you”

She straight up said she loved Aang in book 2 ep 1 -> “for the people who LOVE YOU, watching you be in that much rage and pain is really scary”. Sokka isn’t scared of the avatar state, and never voiced that concern. She’s talking about herself.

And she did not need to be all up in Aang’s space correcting his stances when they were waterbending either. She is not slick, she again used that as an excuse to touch him lmao

Like please be serious. Katara was very into Aang throughout the entire show. This is just ridiculous levels of lying to claim otherwise, and it’s embarrassing for the OP who is admitting they can’t comprehend a children’s cartoon written for 7 year olds. You don’t have to like or ship kataang if that’s your personal preference, but Katara canonically does love Aang romantically. Cope.

Yes, yes she is. You can continue to deny she is not until you are blue in the face, but it will not change what everyone can see with their fucking eyes, which is Katara looking at Aang like this and asking if they can kiss each other:

It is not until after Aang repeats her question, in seeming shock, that she tries to act like it is such a crazy suggestion, essentially playing the entire matter off as a bit of a joke to save herself from embarrassment. She is incredibly upset to hear Aang verbally reject her in return, and even screams that she is “sorry I suggested it!” before stomping off.

This doesn’t have anything to do with the act of kissing someone completely random hypothetically, and has everything to do with whether Aang and Katara specifically will kiss, or whether Aang even wants to kiss her back. That’s why she’s mad. I really don’t know why I’m having to explain this to you.

And yet again, yes, Katara going out of her way to constantly touch Aang is yet another indication of her interest in him especially when combined with all of the above listed evidence you’ve been shown by two different people.

Considering it is an established part of her character that physical touch is a big way in which she shows affection, and also that this makes Aang blush because it’s a romantic gesture. And later in this episode, once they’ve kissed and made it out of the labyrinth, Katara once again blushes being reminded of how she and Aang had kissed, and Sokka even looks at her with a suspicious knowing smile.

These three instances even without the rest of the show, in combination with each other and the context of this episode, definitely indicate that Katara has feelings for Aang beyond simple friendship to anyone with a fucking brain. If a 7 year old can comprehend that, there’s simply no excuse for someone grown like you. Sorry about it, lol.

And yes, as much as you hate it, Katara repeatedly displays interest in Aang. As already mentioned, she is constantly touching him throughout the series, something she only ever does to him specifically, and these are just a few of the examples:

She actually cries tears of happiness when Aang affirms his love for her at the end of the Serpent’s Pass when he states that seeing a romantic couple together with their newborn child has reminded him of how he feels for her:

She reciprocates what he states in this moment, and hugs him while crying. He’s literally telling her that he loves her and sees with her a future that these new parents have and she cries happily. In what universe does this indicate she doesn’t feel the same way about him? Might I add that Aang at this point in the show hasn’t outright verbalized he is in love with Katara, yet we understand that to be true. Yes, half a season before this episode he’d indicated having a bit of a crush on her, but a crush is very different from being in love with someone. He doesn’t state he’s in love with her until the end of season 2, but we understand his feelings to have changed/evolved based on mostly nonverbal evidence. So why is it that, when Katara gives similar indications that her feelings for Aang are changing and evolving into romantic love as well, that this suddenly isn’t true or a reliable way of comprehending how a character feels for another character? This double standard you all show is ridiculous. Katara shows blatant romantic love for Aang and you are being purposefully obtuse to argue otherwise.

Like, genuinely what?????? And all of these screencaps aren’t even half of the moments Katara and Aang have that build up to a romantic relationship. The show is laying the foundation for what ends with them becoming a couple.

“The writers were forced to do it because of bryke and their fantasies”

They were employed to help write the show. If they didn’t want to work on the project, they could have refused the job. The staff writers you’re mentioning have confirmed Mike and Bryan as well as the head writer requested specific things be written into the story for kataang, such as the Oma and Shu parallel, and the writer of that episode Josh Hamilton even stated that he enjoyed working on it.

The writers were not forced to do anything. They willingly helped work on the show, and they knew very well that Katara and Aang were the pre-planned endgame of the story well before book 3 was written. Katara and Aang being planned is evident from the very first episode to anyone paying attention.

And lastly, no you don’t get to whine like a baby about supposedly being “harassed” by kataang shippers when you are the one intentionally going out of your way to interact with us and provoke us. You even deleted one of my replies to you wherein I called you out for this behavior. You don’t get to pretend you’re some sort of victim here when you are coming into our ship space and talking shit. Get out of our house lmao??? It’s basic fandom etiquette to tag accordingly.
