Why would Katara ever choose to rule over the Fire Nation and become literal arm candy to Zuko, seeing as the Fire Lady has zero power in the FN monarchy? Everything is overseen and decided upon by the Fire Lord. Why would Katara choose to marry into the monarchy that slaughtered her people and her mother? She would be assimilating into a culture that views her as inferior. The end of a 100 year war isn’t enough to undue a century of racism. That would still be prevalent, and the citizens of the FN would never accept a water tribe woman as their monarch. That is, if such a marriage wouldn’t immediately result in another war, because Katara is daughter of the chief of the SWT and her people have been victims of genocide for a century and would never accept Katara marrying the new Fire Lord. Realistically, if these characters got together it would create immediate conflict.

Zuko wouldn’t treat Katara like a queen because Zuko doesn’t gaf about Katara like that. Bro has a whole girlfriend and he can’t even keep his shit together long enough for her to stay with him in the comics, tf makes these ppl think it’d be different with Katara? Lmao, if anything, their relationship would end 10x faster because Katara would never put up with his shit as long as Mai.

All of this is just projection and shipper fantasies. Zuko taking Katara to find her mom’s killer didn’t make him magically in love with her. He did that to try and make up for how royally he’d fucked her and everyone else over the whole show. And he even admitted on screen in that episode to Aang that Aang had been right about what Katara needed. Zuko didn’t even know Katara well; if he had, he would have been concerned for her well-being like Sokka and Aang were shown to be. But Zuko didn’t care, because he didn’t know Katara like they did. Zuko knew like 3 things about Katara atp in the show: she has a brother, she is super protective of Aang and clearly loves him, and her mom was killed.

Bro literally barely knew her lmao. He encouraged her to seek violence, because that’s what Zuko would have personally done. He didn’t know or care about Katara enough to see that how she was acting was not normal for her and that it was something to worry about. He wasn’t there to see how traumatic bloodbending had been for her to then understand how concerning it was that she was using it the night they attacked the ship. He wasn’t there when they encountered Jet, and then Hama, and how unchecked grief and rage turned them into monsters of their own. He wasn’t there when Aang nearly lost himself to that in the desert, and didn’t understand that Aang was doing for Katara exactly what she had done for him in her own dark hour.

What part of this ^ do you not understand?! Aang’s relationship to Katara is crucial for his character. She literally returns to him his denied humanity! He is a reluctant god and she keeps him human!

Uh, most of us Kataang shippers do give a fuck about Katara??? I hate when people make ignorant statements like the ones in that post because they don't realize why Kataang shippers are so defensive against ZK shippers. Kataang shippers have had to deal with hate and harassment from bitter ZK's FOR ALMOST TWENTY YEARS. It's rich of them telling everybody to stay in their lane, when it's mainly ZK shippers I see complaining in the comments and reblogs of posts tagged anti ZK. It's also telling that they ship Zu/kka and mention liking Sokka's other canon ships, but don't mention Zuko's canon ship with Mai.

It’s so annoying how these random people keep coming into the kataang tag to be like “hey guys let’s all just be FRIENDS” when they clearly don’t comprehend the shit the ZK fandom says about kataang shippers, about the characters, and about the creators of the show lmfao.

They are literally calling Mike and Bryan pedophiles. They are accusing these men of felony crimes when neither of them have EVER had any sort of work place complaint or allegation against them in their entire careers.

No, it isn’t a “mutual” problem between kataang shippers and zutara shippers. We have every right to defend ourselves against them. We have every right to defend the show we love against them. And yes, we DO have the right to defend the creators as well against people falsely accusing them of the most serious crimes someone could commit that could send them to fucking PRISON!

If someone genuinely thinks kataang shippers defending the show/ship/creators against people that are literally creating false allegations with zero evidence purely because they’re MAD that their FANON INVENTION ISNT CANON is in any way the same thing, they’re a fucking idiot.

I completely disagree with that argument. Sure, Sukka and Maiko are kind of lacking due to the show not focusing as much on those relationships, but kataang was always the actual romantic subplot of ATLA so.. and it was well developed and written. It was actually surprisingly well developed and written for a kids cartoon when that is usually not the case for romantic plots lol. It’s so well handled that it stands out amongst other pairings in similar media.

Katara and Aang’s relationship was allowed to breathe and grow naturally throughout the 3 seasons of the show. We saw them becoming genuine friends. We saw how well they worked together. We saw what Aang offered to Katara and what Katara offered to Aang. We saw how important their bond was to the narrative. We saw really great and happy moments between them AND bad moments. We got the full spectrum of their relationship, not just sappy romance for the sake of sappy romance. We saw Katara and Aang see the best and worst in each other and choose one another despite that over and over, so at the end, when they finally got together it actually felt earned and felt like these two characters finally “beat the odds” and got their happy ending.
