I think it’s stupid fanon bullshit that the show outright disproves much like the majority of everything else ZK shippers make up.

Katara literally had a whole breakdown on screen over Aang leaving her behind in The Awakening. Yes, she is also talking about her father, but she is predominantly speaking about Aang. Him leaving her has triggered her abandonment trauma over her mother dying and father going to fight the war.

Katara literally held Aang’s dying body in her arms. She watched him get cut down right in front of her and spent a month trying to heal him, not knowing the entire time if he would ever wake up. She is in an incredibly vulnerable state. Him having nearly died is resurfacing the trauma of her mother’s death, something he is paralleled to in the second episode of the show… So it’s actually narratively important that Aang continues to return to Katara. He actually defies her abandonment fears repeatedly.

Though Katara isn’t outright voicing this, it is visually paralleled and the scenarios in which Kya and Aang are taken away from her are almost identical. Even the dialogue they speak is similar. The Souther Water Tribe is invaded by an imperial soldier (Yon Rha and Zuko) and both are looking for the “last” of their kind. The waterbender (Katara) and the avatar (Aang).

Kya sacrificed herself for Katara. Aang did the same.

And, even in book 1, Katara was begging Aang to stay with her instead of acting on his avatar responsibilities.

“Please don’t go, Aang! The world can’t afford to lose you to the Fire Nation. Neither can I.”

So no, Katara would not be upset about Aang initially choosing her over the Avatar State. If anything, she would be upset that he was later forced into the position to sacrifice his love for her and that it resulted in his near death.

This behavior from Katara continues even in the movie that just released. During the balcony scene, she tells Aang that she understands why he keeps leaving on trips to recover artifacts etc, but she also lowkey pleads with him to stay in the city because the “people need his protection”, she says. What she really means is that she wants and needs him there with her just as much as the “world” needs him. Aang is distancing himself because of his grief, and Katara is trying to convince him to stay maybe indefinitely this time.

She’s basically stating exactly what she did in the cartoon: “I know the world needs him but doesn’t he know how much that I need him too?”

That post i compiled was only the top results. I only searched for the content for like 10 minutes lol, so no it definitely isn’t all of it that exists. And there most certainly used to be more than exists nowadays because of the purges on sites like FF.net. It was an incredibly popular trope for the zutara ship to put Katara in a position as a slave to Zuko or the fire nation in general. And she typically was raped by him and forced to marry him and then randomly realized she was in love with him after the fact. That’s usually how those types of fanfics went. And it’s still a trope in their fandom today even if they want to lie and say otherwise. There’s zutara weirdos writing slave fanfic and begging for fics on the subreddit.
