As for why they didn't go for "brown people" - it may have already been the term for the Algerian Moors who would have been around, or maybe the black people that Irish people saw were more cool-toned than brown (my dad always said he finally understood the term "daoine gorma" after seeing black people with very dark cool-tinted skin on a trip to Germany), or that they simply wore blue clothing as they would have had more dyes available to them.

In mainland Europe, as well as a strong Arab presence, there would also be Roma/Gypsies (naming preferences vary), Jews, white European religious minorities like Cathars, etc.

Besides these, there would be other minorities like gay and bi people (I will point out apropos of nothing that homosexuality was legal in Ireland until the 16th century) as well as occasional crossdressers and genderqueer people/people who would now be considered transgender, intersex people with obvious physical characteristics whose existence is probably the hardest to deny and of course asexuals and aroaces who would have become nuns/monks/priests or simply bachelors/spinsters in many cases.

Don't fall for outdated ideas of the past. It was not homogenous.

Sex is not essential. You can live without it. Full stop.

Not having sex isn't shameful or a sign of failure. It also doesn't make anyone boring.

You are not entitled to having sex with anybody and nobody is entitled to having sex with you.

Sex is not what makes someone an adult.

Nobody's worth is defined by how much sex they have or don't have.

Sex is not equally important to everyone.

You can have fulfilling and happy relationships without sex.

You should only have sex on your own terms, not because you feel like you owe it to someone, or because you feel like you'd be incomplete without it.

Know your boundaries around sex and be firm about them. Know how to respect other people's boundaries.

The previous point also applies when it comes to discussing sex. If someone doesn't wanna talk about it or hear about it you have to back down.

A fascist might say that a healthy and strong nation is represented by a white traditional family. A liberal will disagree on the surface - they'd be likely to say that gender diversity and cultural diversity are signs of health and strength. But they're still operating under assumption that "nation", "health", and "strength" are neutral or positive political concepts.

And once you start noticing it, you notice it everywhere. People aren't arguing whether sorting people into ranks by quality is acceptable, they're arguing who's the real superman and who's the diseased collection of abnormalities.

That's what I see when someone says politicians are fat and mentally ill, men are dangerous emotion-driven beasts, shaving body hair invites sexual assault of children, and liking blondes is a sign of moral corruption.

"Justice sensitivity" does not mean "neurologically I am a good person who stands up for what's right." It means you have a strong reaction to perceived injustice. But it does not mean your moral compass is calibrated well. The white dudes who are most obsessed with taking away Affirmative Action likely also have "justice sensitivity" -- their sense of injustice is just triggered by something different from what triggers mine, because we have different values. Some people's sense of injustice is triggered by pretty much any situation ever not working out in their favor. Those people can still be "justice sensitive" even if you wouldn't think of them as good people.

Also, there is no neurodivergent condition that makes you automatically capital-H Honest. Some Autistic people aren't good at intentionally lying or find it very uncomfortable to intentionally lie, but others lie just fine and I've met some who did it all the time. "Intentionally lie" is also doing a lot of work here, as you can be very dishonest without intentionally lying if you are prone to lying to yourself, which neurodivergent people are no less likely to do.

If you want your memory or executive function to improve, stare out a window at the skyline or sidewalk or trees or birds on the electrical wires for like 20+ minutes per day. (With no other stimulation like a podcast or TV if you can manage but hey baby steps innit). If you're fortunate enough to have safe outside with any bits of nature, go stare closely at a 1 meter square of grass and trip out on the bugs and shapes of grasses and stuff.

Literally this will make you smarter. Our brains HAVE TO HAVE this zone out time to do important stuff behind the scenes. This does not happen during sleep, it's something else.

That weird pressurized feeling you get sometimes might be your brain on no defrag.

I have trouble reading between the lines and picking up on implicit information? Actually, I’ve learned the importance of giving and receiving precise, specific instructions in order to avoid time consuming miscommunications.

I’m easily bored with only one task? Actually, I have a curious mind and thrive in places with a wide range of tasks as I prefer dynamic environments where I can contribute to many projects.

I have trouble with white lies that are merely social niceties? Actually, I prioritize a transparent work environment where we can tackle issues head-on.
