Its the end of the year, the real end of High School, students roaming in the soon to be empty hallways, colourful pens/markers in their hand, rushing to get their white uniform sign by teachers,classmates.
Friends hugging and taking pictures, students crying with nostalgia, and there stood you, with your friends by your side and a little note in your hand.
It was almost evening, the sun was slowly setting down – its golden light settling down in the school campus and there in the distant you see him
Your Seonghyeon – its kinda weird claiming him as yours when he probably doesn't look at you more than a classmate, but little does he know, you were completely head over heels for him, he was in the same class as you. It was as if the stars were align.
You remember the first time you saw him, him being one of the basketball players – you getting dragged to watch the match and sitting in the bleachers with your friends
'' i really dont see the point in watching something i have no interest in '' you scoffed while folding your arms together, you had more important things to worry about but of course your friends couldnt care less
'' i wanted to see Martin, he's playing ynieee i gotta cheer for my bae '' Wonhee said giggling while holding up a pom pom ( and no shes not a cheerleader)
'' you can just cheer for him without me you know '' you deadpanned
'' whats the fun in that?? '' Minju said chirping in the conversation
Your eyes noticed him before your brain can process what you are staring at.
Wonhee followed your gaze then stared back at you with wide eyes
'' ya y/n!! dont tell me you like Seonghyeon ! "
You quickly regain your conscious and close your mouth
'' h-hey who said anything about l-liking?? '' you muttered without even realizing your face getting a bit hotter
'' YOU SO DO LIKE HIM '' Minju exclaimed while jumping excitedly
AND from that day on – he was all you can think about, turns out he was your classmate you never understood why you never noticed him before but then again you never really pay attention to anyone or anything.
The first time he ever talked to you– he was in the school campus with a camera dangling from his neck, you were on your way home when he called out your name from the distance while jogging over to you
'' Y/N !! Y/N '' He shouted your name while you stood, almost frozen like with your eyes glued open wide
he called your name, he knows your name, how? why?
your name sounds prettier coming out from his mouth
'' You forgot your textbooks in class '' he huffed while handing the textbooks which include 3 books – you stared at him, holding your bag straps as if they're a life line that can cut you off any moment given
'' Thank you.. but i was thinking about leaving them there b-because my bag is kinda heavy..'' you rambled on while using your hand to explain the situation – he blinked once, you held your breathe
And slowly a pink tint appear on his cheek, scratching the back of the head, he smiled – '' i thought you accidentaly left them ''
'' i'll take them home! y-you went through all that trouble'' you said finally breathing, reaching out your shaky hands to take the books
'' its alright ill keep it in the same spot for you'' he said giving you that same sweet smile you always fell for
'' Have a save trip home! bye y/n'' he softly said while waving at you
And before you can reply he was already jogging away from you – you looked back at your friends
He knows my name, HE KNOWS MY NAME!!
Even in class, he always seem to catch you staring at him – smiling at you with that stupid grin of his, he does stupid little things to catch your attention
Whether it be asking you silly questions about the class which he already knows ( shh ) or anything about yourself just to hear your voice.
Quietly he noticed you, he notice how quiet you can get if you're awkward, he notice when you feel upbeat, when you are stressing he notice the way you bite the inside of your cheek.
He doesn't know why he noticed you the way he does – everything he does just feels natural to him, it doesnt feel weird or awkward. Ever since the first day at school, his eyes naturally just landed on you, without noticing his eyes search for you, at his game, in the classroom, on the way home.
You were all at once everywhere, inflitrating his thoughts and mind
'' hey you asked to meet me here ? '' you heard his voice, taking a deep breathe — you turned around and you see him in your view,standing in front of you.
Now a little older, taller. His white uniform decorated with different kind of colourful markers, his dimples showing slightly, his hair a little messy, that same camera now dangling from his shoulder.
'' Um yes..i did '' you instantly close your eyes – you cant afford to stutter, no, you need to be confident. This is probably the last time you can ever see him! stand properly, look at him.
Well, how can you possibly look at him when his presence alone makes you all liquid.
You cleared your throat as your eyes slowly look at him - God he looked so perfect.
'' I wanted to talk to you about.. something '' you said slowly, breathing in and out.
He cautiously nodded slowly, waiting for you to continue
'' i like you hyeon!'' you said almost yelling, looking straight at him
He stood frozen in his spot - it feels as if the whole world stopped, only distant mutters can be heard.
'' i..i like.. y..you??''
You said nervously , God you should have just give him the letter and go on your own way, maybe blocking him on social media so that he cant reach you?? probably a better idea than standing and confessing your feelings to him.
Well, you already did the damaged might as well go in with the kill
'' I have liked you for a long time hyeon, uhm i was waiting till the last year to fnally confess to you, you're amazing, funny talented and really friendly.. to me and i-i am not asking you to reciprocate my feelings, that would be me asking too much '' – you continued with a half smile on your face '' I wish you all the best in life and i hope you continue to grow and i hope we can stay in touch and.. i hope this doesnt make things awkward between us ''
You finally breathe as you close the distance between the two of your as you hesitantly reach out for his hand then you gave him the letter
'' It was a good year hyeonie '' you said smiling at him
'' ill get going now, my friends are waiting for me and thank you for everything '' you softly said while walking away slowly
After you were out of his view, Seonghyeon finally breathe again - he looked down at the letter in his hand, he can tell how much effort you had put in it.
He quickly shove the letter in his pocket and ran after you
God damn it why did he froze up?? that was so pathetic
The literal girl of his dream confessed to him and all he did was stand?? unacceptable
'' Y/N !! '' he shouted as he ran as fast as he could to catch you
'' Hyeon?? '' you said confused, your heart beating so fast it feels as if you ran a marathon
'' i forgot to tell you something ''
'' i like you too '' Seonghyeon said as he catches his breath
'' i've liked you ever since i entered that class in the beginning of the year, ive always noticed you, i cant focus in class because of you, you're all i ever wanted y/n '' he said in a tone thats so so sweet
'' i know im probably an idot for standing like an idiot while you confess but i swear i- '' he was cut off from his rambled as you suddenly leaned in and standing on your tip toe to kiss him
'' wow that was..'' he said caught off guard
'' shut up '' you said looking down at your feet instantly
He carefully put his finger under your chin, forcing your eyes to meet his again.
Your breath got caught in your throat as you stare at the eyes that always pulls you in without even trying.
And slowly you leaned in again smiling visibly, you muttered softly
Closing the gap between you, He puts his arm along your waist - the other hand slowly coming up to touch your face
The students chattering slowed down in the distance and the school finally seems peaceful, the wind blowing softly against them – the golden sunset slowly fading from the school campus, taking a long one last glance at the two teenagers
Because sometimes it only takes a glance and a bit of notcing that can flip your while world upside down.
