there’s something deeply ironic in criticizing an entire community about morality while remaining silent about very similar behavior when it involves people you’re less interested in discussing
just because something feels weird to you doesnt automatically make it immoral.
if your position falls apart the second people ask whether you apply the same standards across the board, then perhaps the issue isn’t everyone elses morals, perhaps the issue is that your standard was never as principled as you wanted it to sound!!
i also think this space would benefit from more discussion of issues that have a clear and measurable impact on young people in the industry: exploitative contracts, invasions of privacy, stalking, fan entitlement, unrealistic beauty standards, and the sexualization of minors. those are issues with tangible consequences, and they often receive far less attention than debates that ultimately come down to personal boundaries and individual discomfort

i understand that the things you stated are real issues that definitely need to be addressed, but i simply wanted to express something that brings me discomfort. your approach makes it seem like you believe there are bigger fish to fry and that my choice to express something that concerned me is deemed invalid or unnecessary. is the concept of someone freely using their account to express their perspective too jarring for you to comprehend?
